Immaculate
This is a links style course and was in immaculate condition from tee box to green. The fescue has been cut enough to allow a golfer to play back to the fairway. The fairways are generous and the green are large. The staff were friendly. The carts are in excellent condition and are equipped with GPS. The one criticism I have is that riding players have to leave the fairway 100 yards from the green. 100 yards seems a little early to me and there are no signs or GPS signal to direct riders when to leave the playing surface.
First Time playing
Great course! Very windy n cold day made it an even more challenging. only draw back was carts were path only and greens were a bit beat up.
Have heard alot about this course from co workers and it did not disappoint. Very challenging and cost effective.
Starter was a great guy who checked in on us numerous times , as he knew we were visitors in town.
Will be back next season and hoping for a warmer day
Tough, but nice
I’ve played just about every course in the Windsor-Essex area and I think this one is one of the toughest ones. Very unforgiving, lots of fescue and sand. If you struggle to hit the fairway consistently, be prepared to take some drops. The course was in great shape, but the sand wasn’t the greatest. Not sure if my putting was that off or if the greens were as challenging as I thought. We’ll go with the latter based on what others were saying and to make me feel better.
Best course southwest of London.
Easily the best course south (and west) of London, if not the GTA. Better than most private courses in terms of layout, conditions, challenge, and bang for buck.
Gold tees can be a true test if the wind is up. Par 3's on the back (one with a water carry) that will have you reaching for a fairway wood (possibly even driver) when you are into the teeth.
Course is walkable with no major elevation changes but plenty of undulations. I play this course regularly and rarely have a pace of play issue when playing in the mornings. On a busy day with lots of heat in the afternoon I can imagine it slows a bit given lack of shade and exhaustion setting in.
Staff in the shop are adequate but I'd echo other reviews in their lack of going the extra mile or being outwardly friendly. Its fine but could be a lot better and pales compared to the service level at many other courses.
Will play again. And again. And again.
Awful pace...
Was a member at this course for a few years and it has sadly gone downhill each year. Ton of leagues now and the pace of play is beyond awful. 2 hours to play 5 holes.. Contacted pro shop regarding pace of play and nothing was done. Response we received was sorry guys..
Weather couldn't hold me down
I was visiting Windsor during a different event and really wanted to try this course as it is listed as one of the best public courses in Canada. The weather was horrible but I thought I would give it a go anyways.
Everything was great except for one big issue, the pro shop staff were very unfriendly. There were some great factors to this course but the lack of care or interest of the pro shop staff made my experience not great. It was like I was putting them out for wanting to go out with terrible weather. No towel to go with my cart in rainy conditions and very little in the care of my experience. The Very poor attitude towards me turned me off. I have been treated way better in other similar situations at top courses in my travels. Really didn't feel like I was playing at a top course in Canada.
The big thing that made it up for me was the great server and amazing food in the restaurant before the round.
The course itself was a fun track and could see that in the middle of the summer in prime conditions, this would be a must play for any golfer during a visit to Windsor. Great bunker placements with other strategically placed hazards can give this course a little bit of teeth. The greens were very nice and had just enough undulation to make easy putts difficult. In better weather I could see them running really fast.
It is too bad my experience wasn't the best but it still won't steer me away from recommending this golf course to the high and low handicappers. In great conditions I can see why it a top rated course.
My one big issue about the design is a lack of shade. This a true to style links course with little or no trees. On hot days it could be a tough one to walk.
Hiding in plain sight.
A great golf course with many challenging holes, hidden among industrial lands and suburbia. Impeccably groomed, links type course. Very few trees but watch out for the mounds and fescue grass that are always lurking, waiting for an errant shot. Never seems to be overly busy and you'll likely need every club in your bag. Great fun and a treat to play. As nice or nicer than the local "Private" clubs.
This course has not ever had memberships and there are few leagues that I am aware of. False review.
