Willows Run Golf Club - Eagle's Talon Course

About
Willows Run Golf Club has something for every golfer with two 18-hole links courses, a nine-hole, par-3 course, and a "themed" putting course that draws inspiration from courses in four different climate zones. Located in the Sammamish River Valley, there are stunning views of Mount Rainier to the south. Eagle's Talon is one of the 18-hole, championship courses. With four sets of tees, the golf course appeals to a wide range of skill levels. The links-style course is challenging but fair, with strategically placed bunkers and rough. Water also has a prominent presence, with the Sammamish River running alongside the two championship courses. The river is home to several runs of salmon and trout and it also attracts a variety of birds including ducks and blue herons.

Good Saturday round
Pace of play has been an issue here in the past, so my golf buddy and I decide to tee off on the early side. We were paired with a single and were hoping for a 4 hour round as it was before 7:30. Got concerned on the third hole (Eagles Talon) when the group ahead of us started hitting (spraying) multiple tee shots and taking forever searching for the sprayed balls, they were almost two holes behind the group in front of them. Just as we were about to reach boiling point ("while were young") the marshall contacted them and asked them to speed it up, which they did. Finished in about 4:15, which we were quite happy with for a Saturday.
Also, for the amount of rounds (abuse) this place sees it was in very good shape especially the greens which rolled nicely and were just quick enough.
Nice course
No waiting on this day which was nice. Nobody pushing us we were paired with another twosome everything was great!
The course was in good shape.
This is a nice course but plan on a long day. Tee times were backed up for some reason which is not unusual here; our tee time was 2:23 and we didn't tee off until 3:00. We finished our round at 8:00 PM. We saw one marshal on the course who didn't seem interested in speeding things up.
Play this course during the week and avoid weekends unless a 5 hour round is OK with you.
The course is close to home but I dislike hole #8 on the Eagle Talon course
We got paired with a two singles and it was a most enjoyable day on the golf course. I like Eagle Talon course better than the Coyote but hole #8 on Eagle Talon is one I haven't figured out yet. It always gets me. Course was in good shape and we finished faster than I thought we would on Sunday afternoon.
Nice day on a nicer course
I always enjoy a round at Willows. The conditions were excellent, and the course just the right challenge. Be aware of the plentiful opportunities to lose (and find) balls in thick rough or impossible-to-approach areas. I've often gone through a couple of sleeves, but today only one ball was donated to the golf gods. Greens were just the right blend of speed and complexity. Very few easy reads, but nothing insane, either. I'm sure many people find Willows to be too flat. In my case, I really appreciate that. The course is already challenging, and my game isn't good enough to handle too many shots on slopes.
A Forgettable Layout
While this course was in superb condition it is a layout that is very forgettable.
There isn't a single golf hole with even the mildest of a WOW factor to be had.
Willows Golf Complex is a great facility - two courses, with a exec par three layout too. Excellent condition.
Seattle/ Bellevue has few public golf courses - Willows Run Golf Complex is a wonderful facility serving Seattle/ Bellevue golfers. There are two courses - both were in excellent condition - very well maintained. I played Coyote Creek from the black tees and it was very enjoyable from tee to green. Great course for walking.
nice course
easy to book online, just remember to bring validation code,
Overpriced and overplayed
Two decent tracks, but these both get way too much play, causing greens to be overused (bumpy, unfixed ball marks, etc). The playing time is a bit long for me, 5 hours or so on Wed with a tee time of 2:45. Got done just before 8:00, almost dark. They seem to be able to charge more than a similar quality and maintained courses in the suburbs due to the location near large Eastside populations. And they seem to keep it pretty filled up at that price too. I don't play here as often as I would because of the slow play, cost and mediocre condition of the greens.
Nice Course, Slow Play
The course was in good shape for this time of year; however the play was so slow it took 5+ hours to finish the round. A course marshal would have helped a lot to get play to a reasonable level. I will still play there again, hoping they get a marshal to keep things moving.
Good solid value
I played the Coyote Course. It is not long from the white tees but places a reasonable demand on accuracy. The greens were firm for this time of the year and were pretty fast. It was an enjoyable round of golf providing a good challenge while giving the opportunity for a low score if you are playing well.
good value
there was alot of standing water on fairways but otherwise it was in good shape,
Too Crowded, too wet
Not a good course for this early. It was super sloppy. The greens were lumpy and the rough was too thick (pro length). I would try it in mid summer.
Playing from the black tees is the challenge!
The course was wet due to rain. I wish it drained better. Most of the traps had water in them. The fairways/tee box were find.
Course in pretty poor condition
It didn't rain yesterday, nor today, but the course was a mudhole. Very POOR drainage! At least 10 fairways were so sloppy that the balls plugged. It was difficult to find a place where you weren't in standing water. Several of the down slopes leaving the greens had skid marks from guys slipping. Many of the bunker were basically water hazards, they had so much water in them. The greens were decent, but VERY slow. I probably fixed 5-6 ball marks on each green. Don't waste your money or time now. Wait until summer, when it's had time to dry out.
Nice fairway drainage for winter time golf
Multiple sand bunkers full of water. The greens were bumpy / sandy / turk mars all throughout the putting surfaces on all greens. yes it is mid Feb so understandable to a degree ... definite room for improvement on the greens.
fun course
It was all that I chose above, the only thing worth complaining
about was that if we weren't golfing with people who knew the course, would have been lost.
The course (Eagle) is great.
I love this course because close by my home, and the green condition always good even in the winter, the golf cart had GPS,and also the tee box and fair way are good.
The course set up not too challenge.
Agonizingly slow
I should have known better than to play this course on a Sunday. The 18 holes took even though we were off the first Tee 10 minutes before tee time. Course Ranger told us there was a shotgun tournament ahead of us with about 50% unskilled players. The delay got worse on each successive hole. Wait, wait wait and we were a foursome. Course was built on flat river bottom land with mounds and any elevations changes due to owner modifications.Fairways were fairly wide and most of the time were plush grass but some Tee Boxes were showing over use and were needing some extra attention, Greens were in pretty good shape but offered the ball a sometimes bumpy ride due to previous morning use which in some cases had undue control of intended ball path. Green speed varied quite a bit from green to green and our 4 some could not quite figure out why. It seemed sometimes the greens had been cut at different heights. Not sure of that but had our whole foursome talking to themselves. Greens guarded by bunkers and man made mounds or water. One par three showed white tees to green of 143 yards 90% over water. Another Par 4 water hole had a longer second shot over water. Fairways lined with much more mature trees and natural junk weeds. Much larger, taller and thicker than years ago. The course has matured. Really trouble if the fairway shot goes astray significantly. Nothing really difficult on the whole course. But Oooh Sooo slow. Members of my foursome said the course was always slow. The primary attribute of this course is that it is close in to the East Side Seattle suburbs. Other than that .... kind of a mediocre course. Oh $15 cart fee when the website shows a reduced senior rate. Not available on Sunday but not shown on website. I'll close with a positive. The $4 hotdog on a dry bun was pretty good as hotdogs go.
