100% Worth the Drive
Some of the best conditioned tee boxes, fairways, and greens I have played. But that’s not the best of this course: the routing is a superb using f
Gently rolling terrain with large undulating greens.
A must play if you can get on.
Fastest greens I have ever played
a beautiful, challenging, rad-looking course! I love prairie links, and the Harvester is a great vision of that. fun holes, lots to think about playing the course, and the greens are FAST! Thanks to Andy for the golf!
Challenging and Enjoyable - Fast greens and windy!
Played with my wife and was excellent weather day. Be prepared that the practice green is fast and reflects the actual course greens! Hard to read the greens on the first time playing them. Also if the wind is blowing there is nothing to slow it down our in the rolling hills of the country. Staff very friendly and liked that the carts are located out in the parking area. Grab a card, load and go. No a lot of off course "frills." I was disappointed that in ALL the ball washers on the course... not one had water in it! Also, the over seeding on two of the back nine holes was a pain. We had a slow round due to a group in front of us that we not really up to playing this hard of a course and no on-course marshals to help speed play. Snack shop could take a little warming up with some pictures, etc. Felt like i was eating in a meeting hall. Liked the views... very pretty setting.
Heavenly Harvester is a master piece of a course
Harvester Golf Club in Rhodes, Iowa truly makes the game of golf a few four letter words....or at least it did the day we played this wonderful course. “Wind” and “fast” are the two that come to mind first.
The greens are fast as you discover right away on the practice green and contrary to what I have seen at some other courses this practice green closely resemble all 18 real ones....fast fast fast.
Wind as in it blows most often I am sure as it was a very nice day that we golfed and the wind blew all day. The course is built out in the farm land of Iowa among a lot of rolling hills. Surrounded by live active farms with cattle and goats who are a curious gallery along the edges of some of the holes bordered with fences. Hole 2 you can actually try and cut the dogleg corner by going over the cows bet you had better be long enough to make or it is a cow keepsake. Hole 16 is the goat hole as the reside along the right side of this spectacular hole. The goats don't or shouldn't come into play like the cows can but don't let them distract as your full attention is needed for this downhill par 5 with a small stream running across the middle of it to gather in any long power drives (so be wary). It is probably my favorite hole on the couirse but you may find yourself liking any of the other 17 holes just as much.
The course is in superb/immaculate condition as it winds it's way though the hills with some neat elevation changes but not drastic ones.
Water comes into play often and you will need every skill you have at it's sharpest here but oh what fun. It is not cheap to play here but worth every dollar you lay down to have the honor of playing Iowa's top rated course.
We only dealt with the pro shop staff but they were very friendly and polite and warm in greeting us. We were not able to partake of the bar/restaurant afterwards as we were attending the Solheim Cup festivities and the Opening Ceremony was the same evening. If you want a truly remarkable golf experience then Harvester Golf Club should not be missed, regardless of the price as sometimes you just have to pay it for the honor of saying you have played the course.
Great Round
There is not a weak spot anywhere on this golf course. As a native Iowan, I am proud to have this as my state's flagship course.
Wow what a course
Making the trek from Wisconsin out to here was definitely a drive but it was totally worth it. This course was one of the best manicured courses I have ever played right up their with Erin Hills and Beth page Black. From the driving range to the greens the course is in amazing shape. The Front plays pretty fair and you can score if you play the appropriate tees. The Back nine is tough but great the layout is amazing, not a bad hole out there and once you get to those final 3 you will be very impressed. #17 Great par 3 with a green surrounded by water and bunkers. Then the horse shoe par 5 around the lake is a great finishing hole. A course I would recommend to everyone. Only downfall to me was restaurant it seems like they don't get a lot of service in there so they do not have much ex: a soda gun or beer on tap?? But our waitress Jules was terrific. Great course that everyone should try an play.
Best golf experience in Iowa
if you're in central Iowa and want a great test of golf and a wonderful experience, go play The Harvester. It's an absolute gem nestled in the middle of nowhere, a course that represents the best Iowa has to offer. Rolling hills, incredible scenery and a phenomenally fun layout await you on a course that is in pristine, country-club condition because it's only open a few days per week. A word of warning, however: This is a difficult (but not impossible) course, so understand that your game will be truly challenged. But good shots are rewarded, and you will have fun. Also note that you'll pay north of $100, but I'm confident you'll find it worth every penny.
Great course!
Only disappointment was no yardage book was available and no GPS, so tee shots where difficult knowing how far you could hit and when you needed to lay up. Amazing layout and course conditions were excellent. Beautiful views and very challenging course! Will certainly repeat!
Unbelievable
In the middle of nowhere arises one of the top public courses in the Midwest. Great buddies trip from MPLS etc. The entire course is one great hole after another. Lodging on site..............there are no humans anywhere to be found. You are literally in the middle of nowhere - there are hardly any golfers. Only open a few days a week. Bring your own food, lodging on site is top notch. This course will separate the men and ladies from the boys and girls. Ranked #1 course in Iowa I believe.
