Good course in the area

I enjoyed playing here. I have only played Muthaiga in Nairobi before. Compared to that course, I find Windsor to be in better shape.

Fairways and tee boxes were good. Greens were pretty rough. They had two temp greens when I was there, but the actual greens were pretty bad too.

Staff was super friendly and the club members I got paired with were pretty nice as well.

Value was good. I paid about 85 USD, but received almost half as a voucher for food and drinks. So the course fee was around 40 USD. Good value for the course. Rental clubs were 20 USD and were pretty crappy. Bring your clubs if you can. Caddies are around 12 USD, so figure 20 with a tip.

Food was Ok. The grounds were pretty nice and I would definitely play there again. Has some cool features and a local rule is if a monkey moves your ball you get a free drop!

Overpriced and Overrated

$100 to play plus another $25 for compulsory caddy makes this the most expensive course in Kenya - by some distance. Normal golf courses are $30 plus $8 caddy fee (August 2017). Drinks and food also very expensive - more than double/treble normal costs because it's a hotel. No golf carts. Course itself is easy for mid-handicappers and extremely easy for low handicappers. High handicappers will find the trees a problem although they are generally not a problem for good golfers (fairways very generous). Greens vary between very firm (no pitch marks and impossible to stop your ball) and terrible (sanded) and they are seemingly sanded almost every month. It's a hotel first and a golf course second and it shows . Good points: Always quiet unless its a sponsored competition (literally no-one else on the course most days) and you'll see lots of monkeys. There are much better, cheaper and friendlier courses to play in Nairobi (e.g. Muthaiga, Limuru, Sigona are all 'proper' golf courses and are always in better condition than Windsor).

good shape for poor layout

I generally avoid this course for poor layout, but It was in good condition. Greens stamp about 8 fairways and rough in great condition. Layout is quirky and odd. A par 3 with a forced punch shot. A couple times I hit trees in my back swing on a tee box and had to movie up a bit, area is really pleasant, driving range and putting green is well done. Better design would be 5 stars.
