Beware the Wind
All good links layouts know which way the wind blows and it does here in Columbiana, Ohio. Firestone Farms on a calm day is a course that can be taken. On a windy day like today (with an approaching front winds over 30mph) your score is going to be taken.
This is a fair course that is going to make you hit just about every club in your bag at least once. The greens are slightly more receptive after some on and off rains this week and they roll on track.
At $25 and less than an hour from both Youngstown and Pittsburgh International Airport this is a steal of a course.
A Must Visit Course
I have been golfing here for years and I always enjoy this course. Definitely a unique course with a great mix of difficulty. Staff is always top notch with friendliness and helpfulness. Also, speaking from experience, great place to receive golf lessons. Course is certainly well maintained. My one and only complaint about this course : the other golfers. This seems to be the only course I visit where no one fixes their ball marks on the greens. A little frustrating. Aside from that, definitely add this course to your "must visit" list.
Well maintained, fun course
Upon arrival I was immediately impressed with the staff friendliness, as well as the value for the money. Teed off at 1:30 on a Sunday, and played first 4 holes at a great pace, yet waited on every shot after that. Fairways were well maintained, yet very dry in some areas (have had very little rain recently, so not entirely the course's fault). Greens were beautiful and rolled true. Nice layout, and a great course for all skill levels, as there are 5 sets of tees. Overall a good experience, and would come back again.
Links Beauty
Our second trip to the Links this year was greeted by a dry track that took some of the bite out of the rough on the course. The greens were rolling honestly and moderately fast. The back nine called on the wind as an ally to defend the two waterside greens and the longish par 3 17th.
Less than an hour from Pittsburgh International Airport the $35 price for 18 holes ($25 for those over 55) is astoundingly low and more than worth the drive.
Just wish that courses like this who use contractor grade sand in greenside bunkers would at least sift it before dumping it in the trap. The small rocks rocketing out when your buddies are trying to save a hole are very disconcerting.
Great course
Challenging course, holes are unique and nicely spread out, greens are fast, good pace of play, nicely maintained and great staff. Worth the trip from Pittsburgh, esp for the price.
greens were aerated and chewed up, no aerification alert on golfnow

Worth the Trip from Pittsburgh
Always a pleasure playing this course. Challenging from the back tees! Course is always well kept. Definitely worth the drive from Pittsburgh!
Good links style golf course, friendly staff.
I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a links style course. Reasonably priced and friendly staff.
