GREAT VALUE
Best experience for the price by far! Great staff, driving range and love the layout it's a good confidence building course for all skill levels. Will keep coming back for years to come!
Gem of a deal
Fluffy slow greens and forgiving fairways. Texas heat hasn't won yet. I'll go back again.
Jacksboro's Finest
Great fun course, it's 9 holes with most holes having 2 spots to play from at different yardages. Very friendly staff. They have other amenities like pool and a bar for the regulars.
Decent Course
Decent course for the area. Course was well kept & the staff was fantastic. Carts were great, beverages & snacks were very reasonable. Greens were very slow but rolled true. Fairways were mostly weeds/crab/dallis grass but mowed well. Hard to compare it to more plush courses but good value if you are in the area.
Lots of Changes...All for the Better!
I've played this course probably 20 times over the past 10 years. This past round was the first time that made me want to go back as soon as I can! The course is under new management. They have changed the routing (old #4 is now #1) and have made a great effort to improve the fairways, roughs, and greens. All greens are now smooth and in great shape. They are also harder to putt because now that they are in great shape, the slopes actually come into play. The bunkers are still a little rough, but you can no longer say that this course is just a "goat track". I can not say enough about how much I enjoyed my round early Saturday. The course is moderately priced and the pace of play was great (I played nine holes w/a cart in 1:15). #5 (old #2) is and will always be my favorite hole. I am really appreciative of the new management improving the conditions of Jacksboro CC. If you are in the area or passing through, go play this now hidden gem! I can't wait to go back!
This is a great 9 hole course!!!
Jacksboro Country Club is under New management. They have totally turned this course around. Fairways and greens are watered, course is finely manicured. Greens and fairways are in great condition with even the roughs a pleasure to hit from. The staff is very friendly and most accommodating. I used to have to drive several miles to play golf on a nice course but not any more. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a nice day of golf for a very reasonable rate!
Go to
This course continues to get better. The greens just get better every time I go. The hard work of the staff is really coming together. Thanks for another enjoyable day.
Good Course
NIce 9 hole course with friendly staff. Fairways in fair conditions and some of the greens still need some work, but understand this is a new group that has taken over and are working on getting it into shape. Fairways are somewhat narrow and the roughs are not very forgiving and could have used some mowing.
Basic Course With Below Average Conditions
I have been told the course was once one of the best around 30-40 years ago. However, it seems they have not kept up adequately since. I have played this course multiple times throughout the summer. Here's a few notes I have taken:
The course has no watering system. The course must rely on rain, leading to dead spots on all playing surfaces including greens. This leads to bumpy greens that never roll true to the break nor spin/check at a consistent rate.
Course is not mown in all places on a regular basis. A player would very lucky to find all 7 fairways mown below rough length on the same day.
I recall there being only one bunker on the course and it contained more grass than sand.
I will say most tee boxes were well mown and some of the best I have seen around.
Pace of play is normally quick as only two to three groups on the course at a time.
Be sure to watch your ball down, especially on holes 1,2,7,8,9 as balls can be easily lost if you don't walk right on top of them.
Overall, the course is playable and fun can still be had. The course has its deficits and more maintenance needs to be done, but still a decent place to spend an afternoon with the right mindset going in.
Thank you and fair well
Thumbs up
Excellent and friendly staff new ownership staff is diligent and excited about customers. I had an especially enjoyable round and will be back with friends !!
Good course for price
Good course for the discounted rate I paid
A great round
The weather was perfect and the course was great. The staff is very friendly and the grounds are kept up very good.
A few corrections to this post. Jacksboro Golf does have a watering system for tee boxes, fairways, some rough and greens. Greens are MiniVerdi and have been praised by the players. Course actually has two bunkers. We have six mowers working constantly on the course. Apparently your reporting is for another course, not JCC.
