Ben Geren
Great place to practice your club selection and long irons.
Slow Play Ruined the Round
Ben Geren is usually a solid value, and with a GolfNow promo code, the deal was even better. Given the recent heavy rainfall, the course was in decent shape overall—though several cart paths were still underwater and multiple areas hadn’t been mowed, leaving standing water in play.
One frustrating aspect was the lack of tee-time management. With three separate 9-hole courses, you’d expect the clubhouse staff to distribute groups more evenly. The two 9-hole courses I was given were a nightmare. As a single, I got stuck behind two older gentlemen with an extremely slow pace of play on both nines. They refused to let me through or allow me to go around, despite the obvious delay. There was no marshal in sight to assist.
It completely ruined the flow of the round and made it impossible to get into any rhythm. I noticed the third 9-hole course looked nearly empty—clearly a missed opportunity by the clubhouse staff to improve pace and experience. Worst experience I’ve had at Ben Geren—and I’ve played there quite a bit. The value is still good, but management really needs to improve course flow and post-weather upkeep.
Great course for the money
Greens are some of the best in the area. When it’s dry it’s a great looking course.
Best greens in the River Valley at the moment! Pristine Condition!
Cart path only
We were told on the phone it would be most likely open play. When we arrived we were then told cart path only.
We are older seniors and it was very difficult. We rented a cart but had to watch many young guys playing and driving across the fairways.
This was very annoying since we stayed on the path and they came upon us many times. I don’t think that was very fair and they should have been told to get off the course.
We had fun and the weather was perfect.
Winter conditions seemed to be setting in - course was a little dry. Greens were good, but the rest of the course could use some TLC (ie: flags need replacing - especially on the practice green, bunkers need some work, etc).
Great course
I have played this course numerous times and it has been great. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Course has a few wet spots that looks like a drainage issue, but since I play very early, it could be from normal watering. I would recommend this course for ever.
Ben Geren Golf Course is an excellent course to play with plenty of challenges but fun.
The staff is friendly and very helpful.
