Bumpy Greens
First time playing DU Golf club for me and I have mixed feelings. The course isn’t bad, but it’s also not super interesting. I found most of the green complexes relatively boring, but there are some fun hole designs on the course too. There are several risk-reward tee shots throughout the round and a couple of blind shots. I enjoyed my round, but the price tag is high.
With cart and a warm up bucket of balls the total was $119. When the price is nearing $100 I expect great conditions at bare minimum, and that was not what we had. This has been a tough winter for many courses in the area, so I’m not surprised that the conditions were not optimal. The greens were also recovering from aerification that was apparently two weeks ago, but it looked like it had been done more recently.
The greens were sandy and bumpy; pretty much not puttable which made the experience frustrating. I know that the price of golf is up, and there is a lot of debate on whether a course should charge prime rates with sub-prime conditions. Here’s the deal though…the tee sheet was full. DU has no problem getting full price, so more power to them for filling the course regardless of conditions. They are doing something right, but I will probably look for a time elsewhere for a lower price when I play next week.
Great Golf Course, Too Pricey
I really enjoy this golf course, great conditions, great layout but where do they get off charging $90/round. I would play this course all the time if were priced where it should be, around $65 including cart. If I'm shelling out $90 I'd rather play somewhere else.
