Great find!!

Outstanding! Several superlatives could be used to describe this gem of a course in an awesome small town in Colorado. We stayed at a great little campground (LaVeta Pines RV Park), and in our planning saw that there was a local course. I assumed it would be like most small town “muni’s”, but was surprised in a great way. Condition of the course was very good, greens were in great shape, and pro shop staff - and even the maintenance staff - were very friendly. I learned that new ownership had begun a restoration of the entire course back to its original Tom Weiskopf design (after the course had been abandoned for a decade) - it was shocking how good of a job they all have done in a short 3-4 years. Course plays very fair, there are some nice elevation changes, and the views of the mountains all around made it lovely for my wife and dog to ride along with me. I recommend this as a great golf destination, and will likely bring some buddies back to take advantage of the stay and play packages that would make for a great time. Excellent!

Come back

This course was dormant for a number of years. I didn't think that it would ever come. The staff is doing a wonderful job of revitalisation. They have also developed a very respectable restaurant!

Rare find

Cool track in a small Colorado town off the beaten path. Course was mostly empty, but those who were out there were beginners playing at a very slow pace. Wieskopf design so the bones are there for sure. The back nine is mostly in really great shape. Front nine has some rough spots. Think this place sat vacant for awhile, with some more $$$ for maintenance it could be really fun and scenic track. Would recommend, but just know the conditioning is still so-so.

Beautiful course

Course is beautiful. Some work was being done to make it even better, but it still needed some work. It is obvious that elk like the course. The staff was very nice and my wife and I enjoyed a delicious lunch after our round.

Beautiful scenery

The course had beautiful scenery with a nice little river flowing through the front nine. There were lots of improvements being made so some construction areas on the course. The people working there were very friendly and we enjoyed a delicious lunch in the clubhouse after our round.

Valley course in the shadows of the Spanish Peaks

We stopped by on the way from Taos to Denver. Beautiful drive thru La Veta Pass. We didn't have a tee time but they got us on the course right away. Great scenery , decent conditions, friendly staff, good pace of play. I like the variety of holes...some flat, some uphill, some down hill. I would love to play here again if I pass that way in the future.
