Buffalo Run Golf Course
About
Buffalo Run Golf Course is a locally acclaimed 18-hole, municipal course in Commerce City. The links-style layout covers 7,411 yards from its longest tees with a par of 72. Designed by Keith Foster, there are challenging elements such as water hazards and bunkers that come into play on the course. The wind creates difficulty on this golf course. Buffalo Run Golf Course's front nine is less challenging than the back nine but it builds up good practice for the second half of the game. One hole to note is the demanding 13th hole. It is a par-3 that has a well-placed bunker near the green.

Worth the drive
Nice course that is worth the drive from Denver. Price is a little steep for a public course, but worth it. Would play again.
WOW!!!
Loved the course, but the pace of play wasn't the best. Group in front of us wouldn't let us play thru an the marshal never seem to care about the pace of play. Course was in outstanding shape and green are quick. I will certainly recommend this course to play.
...and the saga continues
Played 18 holes with three guys I hope I never encounter again. Issues with pace of play and etiquette all day.
One guy starts trying to give advice right away on the first hole (he's wearing cargo shorts, an untucked shirt and some golf shoes from 20 years ago that probably have the same cleats in them). He wised up on the 2nd tee and asked if I had played here before (which I have a dozen times) and kept quiet after that. The old saying applies here "The worst kind of vice is advice." It's common sense...unless you shoot par or better, just keep it to yourself.
Same guy takes a GPS yardage for each shot and like two minutes before he's ready but then hits it fat 90% time so the ball doesn't go anywhere.
The two others were guys in their 60s barely able to bend over to put the tee peg in the ground. One guy was very inconsistent, hitting the ground the before the ball on with his driver multiple times. I understand people want to get out and play but this course is too challenging for the guys I was paired with. Play something more suited to your ability.
One of the older guys was complimenting bad shots all day shouting things aloud. That's really annoying and stupid. I'm all for giving props on a good shot. Know the difference. And remember sometimes just being quiet is O...K.
All three would never mark their putts so the hole would end up surrounded as they got closer. God forbid you had a long putt to lag.
Adding to the pace of play epidemic that is golf in the US, we ended up a whole par 5 behind for the last 6 holes (one short par 4 took us 25 minutes to play).
One long par 5 was cart path only. No mention of this by the pro shop staff. A little heads up would be appreciated.
Not a fun day at all. Definitely not worth the money.
Slow play
Course was great, staff very friendly. Only the pay was very slow course completely backed up. Marshal nice but had group that had two people walking who would not let playing thru!
Nice golf course
Club staff was great course good restaurant staff needs help a lot to be desired all in all not bad
Buffalo Run
Design/layout is excellent. Overall condition was just ok; greens were bumpy (looked like they'd been aerated - understandably getting them ready for winter - within the last few weeks). Fairways were in decent condition but the rough ranged from 3" thick & sticky just off the fairway to hard pan to inconsistent splotches, again right off the fairway. We all felt like the conditions had declined since we'd played there a few years ago.
Biggest frustration was it took 4 hours to play 13 holes on a Saturday (10:21 tee time). Starting was confusing as they inserted a 4 some ahead of us who was "making the turn" (???). Saw a course marshal once all day on #4 tee box who waved but didn't speak as she drove by. Called the pro shop from the 13th tee at 2:00 pm and was informed the marshal had "gone home for the evening", but that he would "get someone out on the course". Quit after playing the 13th hole because we were looking at another 2 hours to play the last 5 and had another engagement. No apology, explanation or refund (partial or otherwise) was offered.
Too bad because we really liked the course when we first played it a few years ago but this day was marred by poor management and no attempt to correct the situation or make the customer happy. All 4 players in our group quit; my wife, son & I won't be back.
Fun and Challenging Links Course Close to Airport
Fun and challenging links course with undulating fast greens and deep fescue grass on both side of fairways which are fairly wide but can narrow in places and plus the angles are deceptive. Course is in good shape except for some fairway rough patches but overall can´t complain. Recently remodeled clubhouse with friendly staff and restaurant is a local sit-down full menu eatery for golfers and non-golfers. Some panoramic views of the front range of the Rockies. New housing construction will eventually surround the entire course. Windy more often than not due to the prairie exposure and few trees. Several water holes. Very walkable. Close proximity to Denver International Airport for travelers or those trying to get a quick nine holes in before catching a flight, yet it is not in the main flight path so little or no airplane noise. Decent range and practice area.
Good Course but Needs Some Love
Just recently played this course for the first time, I really enjoyed the links style layout. The greens were in perfect condition but some of the fairways and spots in the rough need a little work. I'd suspect that conditions will improve come June. The tips are at 7400 yards but it doesn't feel like it plays that long. My only complaint was with the marshall, she may have been the most clueless woman in the world. We had an open tee time in front of us and before that it was just a twosome that went off. In the middle of hole 6 and the group behind us nowhere in site, she decided to drive up to our group and demand that we keep up with the group ahead of us. i mentioned there is nobody in front of us and she snapped back, "I know, the twosome ahead of you is two holes in front of you, you need to keep up with them." At that point we realized what a complete moron she was thinking a foursome could keep up with a twosome who teed off 20 minutes before we did. The rest of day was enjoyable.
Exceptional Value - awesome course
Loved this course. Very much a links style course that plays tough. A lot of narrow tee shots with very fair risk reward type situations. Course was in absolutely great shape with greens rolling medium fast and very true. The length is definitely there even from the gold tees (2nd longest tees) but it plays fair with that length. No ridiculous 2nd shots. Pretty straight forward layout but plenty of challenge built in. Can't wait to play here again. It's a tough course to beat given the reasonable pricing.
All you can handle
Played it back in the CO State Amateur years ago and have returned to play it over and over for the years following at least once per year even though I live in NC now. It's spectacular.
Long and demanding but very fair. Great greens, perfect fairways, and plenty of tee options for those who don't feel up to the 7400+ yardage. Plays slightly uphill a lot so the yardage is deceiving even though it looks like it's laying flat; its not. Just more of the goodness that is Buffalo Run.
Wet Conditions
The course was very wet to start, but that was expected. The fairways had wet spots, but none really got in the way. Otherwise a very well kept course. We were having a really great time, till it started raining on us on the last couple of holes. Also had a great sandwich for lunch afterwards.
Excellent value
Friendly staff. Conditions were good for the time of year. You won't find a better value than this course. It's a quality course at ta good price. I've played other courses that were much more expensive and not nearly as nice.
Goog value
Good greens , tee boxes. Preseason rates and twilight prices are great. Quite a drive if u don't live by dia but worth it. Great dining area and outstanding food. Had steak and eggs for breakfast and it was 9 dollars. The steak was an inch thick and cooked perfectly. Have this steak at dinner at a steakhouse and it would have been 18 or 19 dollars. The men in the pro shop are friendly and chill. The fairways need work bad. And play this course in July and u will bake out hardcore. The closet tree is at dia in the terminal. 18 is fun. On in 2 and impress the patio crowd soaking in some Colorado sunshine
