Great Course for iron Action
ZG is a great course for beginners as and offers a nice challenge for wedge and short iron work... the layout is simple with 9 straight fairways, a touch of sand and and one water hazard.
It's a bit deceptive, you need to know your irons and hit them straight, otherwise you get into the...
Tees and greens were a bit dry, greens could've used a blower, but overall good condition...
ZG is a real value and the folks are very friendly...
Chip and putt practice
This is a very small par 3 course that is good for chipping and putting practice. They have a great driving range, course was in good condition, and staff were friendly. If you go here with these expectations, you will enjoy it. It is really more of a practice facility than golf course.
LiL kids practice course
Short, slow pace course. Always small kids learning with parents. Good driving range & good value. But pass for adult golfers
One of a Kind!
The overall rating awarded here is reflective of this entire facility as both a par 3 course and range.
This course is well known locally as a family oriented destination for a speedy round, where beginners can learn the game and experts can sharpen their touch. Despite the short length (about 100 yards per hole), there are enough twists to keep the experts on their toes. Greens, bunkers, and even a couple approaches are trickier than some par 3's on standard length courses. Greens are usually a bit slower than average but get faster around their annual par 3 tournament. The tees will be more like fairway length, so use a tee if you like to trap your wedges.
There is an active junior golf program each summer for various age groups. Several PGA Class A pros are on staff here with wide availability for lessons. Grass tees are offered on the range, and the range balls have great feel. The range is open all winter with heated stations. Adjacent and associated is a challenging mini golf track (not reviewed here but it is very good).
My only wish for improvement is for more than one ball washer throughout the course (currently the only washer in on #1 tee).
Wonderful facility, operated by a wonderful golf family.
Great for Beginners!
I've been looking for a course to get my daughter out to learn the game. This facility has an exceptional driving range and the 9 hole par three course is perfect for beginning golfers or accomplished golfers looking to refine their short game. I've played this course twice with my daughter and it's perfect for her to move from the range to a real playing experience without the pressure from other groups you might feel at a full length 18 hole course. The staff is friendly and courteous, the facility is well run and the course offers a variety of playing scenarios including sand, water and hazard areas without being overly intimidating to new golfers. I highly recommend Zigfield Troy - whether you want to hit a few balls on the range, sharpen up your short game on the par three course or expose someone just getting started to a low key real game experience, you will not be disappointed.
Great short game course
I really liked the layout and found it challenging while perfect for me to work on my short game. The greens were in good shape and had enough break to make it fun yet tough at the same time. Played fast and the driving range and practice green was a good addition.
Great little par 3
I've been playing Ziggy since I was a kid, but hadn't been back in several years. My fiancé is just learning to play, so we came out on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We basically walked right on, for $12ea on a Saturday at 2pm. If you play a lot of golf, like I do, you won't need more than your wedges. It's a great little course to work on your short game, since the greens are small, it makes you be precise with your wedges. At the same time, it's a fantastic course for someone just learning the game. There's no pressure to speed up and everyone is friendly. Don't change, Ziggy.
short and quick par 3, great for 7-13 yrs tag alongs
all holes range in distance from 70 yards to 140 yards. great par 3 to start juniors on. i went with my 9 year old and there were a lot of pairings like us. father/son, young couples just starting, etc.
about 1 hour to breeze through course. but, moves nice and moderate pace so that everyone can play comfortably.
know that it's an basic basic skills player course...enjoy the company, enjoy the weather, enjoy short game work.
Quick little Par 3 Course
The course is exactly what it was meant to be. A quick Par 3 course that you can play in an hour and work on your short game. I wouldn't call it a true round of golf. At $10 the price isn't bad, but it's really not that fun of a course. All the holes are basically the same, 80-110 yard par 3's with small greens and the occasional bunker around the green. Tee boxes are basically rough. Greens looked like they hadn't been worked on in a while. Overall, you get what you pay for and it is a fun way to work on your short game while actually playing a round.
Great to work on your short game
the course is very nice for the price I ended up paying 20 dollars for 2 golfers and two buckets of balls! For having something to do for 1 and half hours great course but it gets quite frustrating do to the fact you can't drive the ball or have any big powerful hits
Fun ... Great Staff
Great staff. Fun course. Good value. A good way to spend a couple of hours. Good driving range.
A good starter course
I would defiantly come back. My son is just learning how to golf and he had a blast.
Greens Unfair
While this course serves its purpose as a beginners course learning how to play the game, greens are not receptive and quite frankly difficult for even a better player. I'm a 6 handicap hitting full 60* wedges with tour balls into the greens and nearly all bounced of like super-balls. I expected greens like this on a full course with a 130-140 rating, but not a backyard Par-3 course. It takes the fun out of that kind of course.
Beginner
I recently started to play golf and this is one of the better par 3 courses I have played on. Some obstacles on holes but course is straight forward. Discount on warm up bucket for the range if tee time booked. Good course to get familiar with golfing or just to work on short game.
Easy Par 3
I took my young son. This is a great course for beginner players or to work on your short game. Course in pretty good shape, but fairly wide open, few bunkers and only one water hazard, hole 2. Nice driving range and ok putting green. Has a mini-golf next to course. Definitely a family place
Great Value
This place is a great value for what you get. Only problem were the sand traps (spent too many trips there this time) They need more sand and better drainage systems, I know the area has had loads of rain recently. Great course for a weekly practice session on your short game!
short game
It doesn't have long distance holes but good place to practice short game in an hour.
