This çourse is much better than it was reviewed
One of the most overlooked bargains in NE Kansas. The course has improved dramatically over the years ( 1981 to present). I found the course conditions were in great shape, staff friendly and helpful. They have newer golf carts, no shortages. While a little short of club house àminities, it didn't bother me as I came to challenge the course, not to get a 4 star meal. Refreshments were adequate. A very accommodating driving range, bunker practice area, and putting practice green, it has everything a good golf course needs to be competitive. I ènjoyed the round and the country setting. I would definitely recommend playing if you are in the area, this is a great place to score birdies and maybe even an elusive eagle for the average to scratch golfer. PGA sanctioned events are scheduled here yearly, so don't miss out on a great day at the course.
This course is in such terrible shape!!!! Zoysia fairways where put in 3 years ago and there are bare spots all over them. The greens have disease and bare spot on almost every green!!!!
There where no ball washers out yet and no drinking water on the course either. ( I can see Covid being the reason for no water coolers on the course)
The area between fairways looks like they are trying to grow dandelions to make wine. The bunkers where rock hard and have not been worked at all.
The course failed to inform us that the greens had been aerated on Monday and where in poor shape. There was little pebbles/rocks covering every green, not sand but rocks.
I brought this up when we finished the round and the Pro Shop manager refused to even listen to the complaint say the course is in great shape. Both he and the head grounds keeper should be fired for such terrible job of managing the course.
I would not recommend this course to anyone if they ask about it.
Ok, I must admit not all golf courses have the finances that Agusta Nationàl has, nor the staff of 30 full time grounds keepers, but giving a 2 star review seems a little stringent. I don't know what the other reviewers home course is like, but I would imagine it is not on par with Pebble Beach or one of the Trump courses either. To state honestly, this is a very nice country course overall. Friendly staff, PGA sponsored tourneyments yearly, charity events as well are continually scheduled at this course. Perfection is not achievable, and giving à poor review due to some self anger at not playing well that day is childish. I admit I have found flaws throughout this courses history, but it is not only super playable ànd challenging, but as well kept as any you will find in the area. I would encourage any avid golfer to try their hand on this very reasonable priced field of play.
