Great view
The course lay is good plus the greens are good. The day I played the wind was strong. But, still enjoyed the course. The view is really unique and beautiful.
Hidden gem
I’ve played here in the last three years I have out to the Cape for a summer holiday. I love it, really fun 9 links style holes with pretty views. Super laid back vibes on a course that’s been there for over 100 years and they kept it in really decent conditions given the drought like weather. If you’re a golfer on the Cape it is a must.
Fun course with beautiful vistas
Scotland type layout and topography plus beautiful vistas. The greens are a bit slow and bumpy though.
Rude
went to this course for the first time while on vacation on a Tuesday. I’m not a regular golfer so I chose Tuesday in the hopes it would be less crowded.
I was paired with three kind gentlemen all of whom were familiar with the course, 65+, and whose best days are behind us. Some had trouble walking. We had three carts among the 4 of us.
We were asked to move faster after about three holes by the starter but the group ahead of us were never more than a hole ahead. Again, I have never played this course so it was new to me.
Around the 7-8th hole a female golfer approached me and starts screaming, in an angry voice, about our slow play and that we “were holding up the course.”
1) we weren’t that far behind the people in front of us.
2) The absolute nerve of a woman berating us when the course she is playing is 30% shorter.
I was speechless. In my 50 years of golf I have never been screamed at like that on a golf course. This exchange ruined my round and my overall experience.
I would have played a second round while on vacation but chose not to after that experience. Life is too short to be screaming at people on a golf course.
I will never play this course again or recommend this course to anyone. You all should get over yourselves.
Interesting course- short, but some narrow fairways. Fescue is tough. Beautiful views of the ocean
A Little Gem
Overlooking the Atlantic ocean and next to the truro lighthouse, this historic course is a lot of fun, not real long or challenging but a blast to play. The greens were small and rather slow but uniform and fun. On the outer cape, a real treat!!!
Great golf day
An ideal golf day....almost a 10. Sunny, dry, comfortable, no wind! Course was in very good shape. Greens were...ah, let's just say they were puttable, but it's links golf. Had to tolerate a slower second 9 because 2 guys in the foursome were playing out of one bag and one was giving the other lessons (shouldn't have been allowed!). LOL. Great day nonetheless (and the lighthouse setting makes it's extra special)
A Wonderful Golf Experience
If you are on the Cape and love to golf, you won't regret coming to the highland's in Truro!
Great course w/ Spectacular views
This is a great little course with tremendous views. Per one of the members, it is 1 of only 4 certified links courses in the US (i didn't fact check).
Tight fairways with necessary distance off the tee to challenge your longer clubs. I played with my boys (12 & 15) and we all shared good and less then good holes.
I would definitely go back.
challenging for beginners
Few trees, so limited issue w these as obstacles. Course; lots of high grass & clover in fairway. Many players searching for balls.
Poor signage for/& about holes, & direction to holes. Pace, very slow due to misplaced/ numerous lost balls. We were lucky, played w prior players, familiar w course. Interesting- quite hilly!
Limited parking & drop off area.
Yes! Picturesque!!
Wrote it off as an adventure! Now back to "player friendly" courses!
PS: does every twosome get paired off?
Wonderful links course
I have wanted to play here for decades and my wife and I finally booked and played 18 holes.
We usually walk but took a cart and were very glad we did! It is a tough walking course for us senior citizens. The starter was terrific, told us the history of the course and gave us some advice on how to play it.
The course is short with tight fairways, ample rough before you reach the heather and very windy. There are elevation changes on just about every hole. We have played in Scotland and Ireland and it is very similar. It is a nine hole layout with a second set of tees for the back nine. Par 35-35 70. A wonderful golf experience.
The scenery is beautiful, bring your camera!
We always have a pleasurable time at Highland links. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating.
Good Vacation Round
Nine holes from two sets of tees. Greens in great shape will be faster in August. Not long but narrow with tricky mid iron approaches. Historic views!
Great time
First time playing here. Staff was very friendly. Probably the nicest starter I've ever met!
