Bay Valley Hotel & Resort
About
Bay Valley Resort & Conference Center is situated in the heart of the Great Lakes Region of Bay City. Desmond Muirhead designed the golf course in 1973. The traditional layout is characterized by its very large, fast greens. Water is a prominent feature on the course, coming into play on 13 holes. The golf course is also well bunkered, but there are only rare occasions where you'll have to carry a bunker in order to reach the green, and it is quite forgiving even if your shots are short. The terrain is mostly flat, making it a pleasant golf course to walk. It's not the most formidable test, but it's an excellent option for advanced players looking for a casual round or beginners who want some practice. Bay Valley's playability makes it ideal for tournaments and group outings as well.

Favorite Layout in the area
While not the best in terms of course conditions, I can't think of a better, more challenging layout than Bay Valley. The ability to move the ball in both directions in essential. Forced carries, lots of water and well placed bunkers.
This is a great value for the money. Late in the year this course can get tore up fairly badly...but this time of the year it's in great condition! Weather was perfect!
Great deal,
Close to town, little wet with recent rain, convenient bathrooms and snack/beverage cart, nice greens despite rain
First time playing course
I had heard this course was exceptional from friends and family thru the years. However, I thought this course was just average despite playing just after heavy rains. Bunkers had medium sized rocks and not enough sand. Greens did not roll true with some extreme bumps in them. It was difficult to obtain food fast for the turn. Had to go eat in bar which took a while even tho there were only a few other people. Overall facilities were dingy and falling apart. Bathrooms for players on course were portajohns. Not impressed with course.
We always enjoy the chance to golf here.
We enjoy golfing at Bay Valley. Some challenges but who doesn't love a challenge. Great course and well maintained. We will be back.
Very Friendly people.
I played late in the afternoon in early November. It gets dark quick especially on a cloudy day. I got the feeling that the people servicing the course were there to make my time enjoyable. I thought that they might want to be home with their family, rather than service a crasy late day golfer. And the course was in very good condition.
Great looking course
It rained we were able to play 3 holes. The three holes played were challenging. I can't wait for a good day to play this course because from driving back to the club house we sawa great challenge.
Great course and a great value.
Course in good shape, had fun and eagled #14. Good day.
Course is in good shape. Can't beat the price. Fun course to play. Not easy but you can score if you are playing well.
This course has a fair layout with a good mix of holes. Course setup and condition has improved. The pace of play is usually good. The price can't be beat and staff is very friendly. It has a laid back atmosphere. Doesn't have the bells and whistles of an elite course but doesn't have the price either.
Large, fast greens in superb shape.
The course welcomed our foursome and made it very easy to use the Golf Now website and rate offered. Tee times were adhered to and starter was very friendly and informative on when to get started.
The course itself was in very good shape with the speed and condition of the greens being a highlight of the course. This day of golf was a very enjoyable experience.
Unique
Every hole was unique. Water on some holes, sand traps on others and even marshes. Loved the fact that we also had bends with blind greens on a few holes.
Player friendly, but water. It helps to hit straight.
Regular rack rate is $44.00. GOLFNOW rate $23.00. SUPER SAVER DEAL was $16.00 for 18 with a cart. Good rates on the beer cart also.
Great Course for the $$ - pace of play was really, really slow
1st time playing this course. Proshop was very sparse, but staff was friendly and helpful. Practice facility was fine with two putting greens. Starter got us off early and 1st few holes were fine. After that, we waited on every tee box at least 10 minutes which resulted in nearly a 6 hour round. The guys behind me were a 5 some and had a cooler boom box and would drive right up while you were teeing off with the music blasting - no course marshalls ever said anything to help play. Great course fo the $$ and I will go back, but beware of Saturday morning tee times and slow play - maybe a weekday morning would be better!
Course is in good shape.
Being new to the course, we struggled a bit figuring out where the next hole was located. Twice we had to ask other golferes. Otherwise, nice day out golfing.
Bring your driver!
Great course! 2 of us riding took 3.5 hours on a Wednesday. You must have a good drive to par this course. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had a bad thunder storm at 4am with a lot of rain, and the course was in great shape like nothing happened by 1230 for our tee time. Great value.
Course was in pretty good condition.
Enjoyed the course. Pace was a little slow. The greens were definitely not fast. That was the most disappointing part of the round.
Well maintained and a great price
Bay Valley Golf Club is a great layout and well maintained.
At $23/18 holes with cart, I do not think you can find a better value in Michigan.
Pace of play was reasonable at about 4 hours on a Friday afternoon.
Definitely would recommend this course.
