Beware Seniors
This is a nice course if you can walk it, but if you have to take a cart be advised that their ranger will harass you at every opportunity if you get within 20 yards of the green. Had a gentleman who was recovering from knee surgery, so we tried to get him to 20 feet of the green and they acted like we drove on the green. Never seen anything like it in 50 years of playing golf. Rude to boot. Will not return. Everything else was fine.
Great 18 for the money
I think the only downside of this track was the food choices, otherwise, it was a great value for the $31. The back nine is shorter, but a lot more fun, than the front, as far as hole layout and difficulty go. A full size practice tee would be a good improvement, but the 165 yard maximum club is good enough to warm up your low irons. I'll definitely come here again.
Excellent Public course
One of the best public courses in SW MI. Greens putt as nice any course in Kalamazoo.
Nice but slow
The pace of play is slow on this day. There was a twosome that was hitting multile shots and right behind them was a single walker. The ranger should group them together move the twosome to play faster. I do like the course because of the elevations. Only thing I don't like about the is the layout. It's hard to find the 10th hole and you have to cross hole 4 to get there.
Course was in excellent condition. Even after hours of rain
Very impressed with the conditions. We were slotted behind 3 foursomes of seniors. Had to wait at every hole.
Great course for the $$
plush fairways, real nice greens
Staff (Matt) very accommodating. Price was right, especially since $$$ saved by booking with GolfNow! Not a real scenic course but the fairways and green are excellent and the rough is, well, rough! Sand traps guard the approach on a number of holes and a couple of them are a bit eroded. Overall though a real nice track!
Praries
The course is in great shape with the fairways very well taken care of and the greens are fast but true. Very little turf damage that I could see despite all the train recently. The rain did pack in many of the traps and a couple still had standing water in them. Still, it's a fun course to play and a great value.
the prairies
The course was in great shape and had very challenging pin placements. the greens were very fast and a little hard to hold overall a great challenge
for all golfers
The standard by which we measure local courses.
In the Kalamazoo area The Prairies is the standard by which we measure local courses. The course is always in great shape (especially this year!), it's always a challenge, the staff is always friendly, and it's easily accessible. "Always" seems to be an adequate one-word description for this course. Finding a "deal" is a bit difficult... they're a little stingy on price breaks, but the course seems to be doing well so they've probably got it priced right... Love playing here, just wish I could afford to play it more often... a LOT more often! Love it!
hidden gem
you would never guess this course existed from the main street. Tucked behind Kohls is a real hidden gem of a course.I would like to thank the groundskeepers for manicuring the fairways and greens so welland the pro shop staff for the friendly accommodating service.
It's a good course for $29 a round.
They have a tendency to send out to many players and the tee boxes will get congested. We ended up getting vouchers for a 9 and a cart for our whole foresome because when we made the turn they had sent off a 4 some and 2 single players. This has happened at least 4 times I've been there. Overall it's a good course! I would definitely recommend
This course for sure!!
Had a great time for not a lit of $$
Course was in great shape the only problems I ran into was the greens being a little stiff when trying to land a wedge shot overall a great course !
Older style layout with nothing fancy but very well maintained. Walker friendly. Greens always in great condition.

Great condition!
This course is always in great condition, fairways and greens are excellent shape!
great value and very nice at the pro shop
great value and very nice at the pro shop..course in good shape
No need to come here!!!
Course is in good shape. Pricey. Staff with treat you subpar if you are not a member. Vito the Ranger does not deserve to have a job... rude and ignorant. No need to come back when Thornapple GC is down the street and knows how to treat you well.
great value
the prairies is the best maintained course in the area and the staff very friendly. the greens are fast, but not slick, and run true. while most of the rough is kept reasonably cut, there are areas that demand a drop if you happen to stray there! playing the prairies at their normal rate is a great value, but getting our tee time though golfnow.com is just icing on the cake!
Good Course, great greens and easy to walk
This course is value for your money. Very little water to worry about. The course is in very good shape. The rough is deep and you do not want to be there. The fairways are nicely maintained and the greens will challenge you putting ability. They are fast, true and firm. They are friendly, from the staff in the Pro shop, the full service bar to the ground crew. Tell your friends and come enjoy a great course that you will want to play again and again. The course was played from the back tees. Small driving range and you can not use a driver on the range, also a small putting green.
