Challenging First Time
This was a challenging course for first time play. Most fairways were narrow, lots of trees. Tee boxes were a little rough, greens were good.
Will not patronize this course anymore
I live in the area. Have played this course for many years. First time I was extremely disappointed with the personnel in the pro shop. First, went in the pro shop to ask about the estimated round time. Was told that if we needed to leave after 9, we could get a rain check. Was denied a rain check by the next person when we went back after 9. Next, while on the first tee waiting to tee off, a threesome pulled up in two carts and one set of clubs. The starter made a comment that they each need their own set. He called the pro shop. They let them go. First taboo of a course is to not allow club sharing. After many years playing here, I will probably not go back.
no GPS
i would have probably still golfed this course, but they should add to the website that the course has decided to not activate the cart GPS system to save costs. a staff member did not inform me of this either. or the starter.. NOONE informed me. so i had to wonder for many holes WHY it wasnt working. im glad my phone app was working mostly. but this is the type of course to where you have to know how far it is to the end of the fairway or how far it is to the bunker or the creek, or the hazard. i had to guess. this would be a good course to hold an outing, a scramble. but all in all, the cart paths were color marked with distances, and there was sprinkler heads that had distances too.
Decent course
Good place to play. Very fair price for the hot deal. Only complaint is that the pace was a little slow but not too bad. Overall good place to play locally!
Great golf course, staff very friendly golf, great atmosphere
greens
i golf many types of golf courses. this course layout was just OK. there was a few holes where i hit the fairway with about a 200 yard drive, but did not have a clear shot at the green. the greens were my main issue. WAY quick when downhill. and slow when uphill. and was very very deceiving as well. maybe i need to play it again to give a better judgement. i consider myself a very good putter. and I THREE putted 7 times today. once was from 6 feet. i will still golf this course again, because i DO enjoy a challenge. the rating should be higher though. it should NOT just be about distance. there were a few bunkers that should NOT be there.

Never again
This is a followup to a response from last years round.I was criticized for hitting up into a group in front of me and i realize the danger in such that is why i made sure they were just out of my range. Maybe if you would send a ranger out to do his job there would be no issues. Your pace of play here has always been terrible and that is why i will never play your course again..
As for a 3 hour and 10 minute round, where i come from that is not acceptable for a twosome. Maybe your management needs to focus more on managing all aspects of proper etiquette on a course instead of calling out people who complain about the lack of it.
Great Course. Long Time Livonia Resident
I’ve lived in Livonia for over 40 years. I’ve played all three courses, Whispering Willows, Fox Creek, Idyl Wyld, many times overs these years. My favorite was Fox Creek until the ash bore killed many of the trees on the course. I still like the course though. Whispering Willows is now my favorite. I like the layout. It is a very nice well maintained course. All three Livonia courses are. There are enough water hazards and trees to make it challenging, but fun. I never get tired of playing these courses. I would recommend these courses to all who enjoy golf.
Great public course
Our league has been here for about 8 years and we've all enjoyed the course. It's been through a lot of changes over the years and it is in really good shape. The greens are usually pretty fast but hold.
All in all, it's a great course for the money. Bar and restaurant are a great additional to it.
Horribly Overbooked
Took 5 hours to finish a round. It wasn't like I was playing behind a group of 4 hackers. Everyone at every hole on the course was waiting 5 mins to shoot. I have to believe it was because the course is way overbooked.
