Yikes
Stay away. Course in terrible condition, just give yourself a two putt if you when you make it to the green, tee boxes are Rough with a capital “R”. Other choices are in the area worth your money and time.
Does not pass for a golf course
Honestly, this was by far the worst golf course I have ever played in 30 years of golfing. Every aspect of the golf course was in horrible condition. Obviously, there is no irrigation for ANY part of the course. The green's are like playing on a tile floor with holes punched in it. What would (normally) be a straight putt, could break in literally any direction. 50% of every green's surface is dead grass. No sand trap rakes. The tee boxes and fairways were in horrible condition (more brown than green). Half of the holes don't have cart paths. Their fix for covid, essentially makes the hole about .5" deep. There are no maps of the holes on the cards. Half of the holes have no signage indicating yardage or a map of the hole. The holes have 1 tiny 3" cement marker that's hidden under the dirt. The cart cleaning kid's response was to "how do we get to the 10th hole?" was "I don't know you would have to ask inside"... This course AT MOST should be charging $8 a person so you should spend your $56 (for 2 people and a cart) on literally anything else. This is not passable for a golf course under and conditions.
First time at Fruitport!
My first time playing at Fruitport Golf Club was definitely a good experience. First off let me say that I had read a review that did not have the best things to say about the course so I was a little unsure of wether or not to take the chance. Upon arriving at the course I found it to be in very good condition. The club house is large, attractive and very well taken care of. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed talking with them and getting any information on their course for a first timer. The tee boxes were relatively flat and in average condition. The front nine was pretty much flat and open. Trees scattered here and there just enough to make it interesting. The one piece of advice I received was hit the fairways! LOL I now see why as the fairways are mostly narrow. There are also a couple of water hazards on the course as well. The greens were in good condition. They seemed to have been aerated a week or so prior to my golfing there but the ball seemed to roll well anyways. The back nine was a little more difficult as there are far more trees to contend with. The fairways were in very good condition and the rough was what I would call lite to average. Overall, the course is not the most challenging I have golfed at but I would definitely golf at Fruitport again! I had a great time and the staff were awesome! If you are looking for a good, relaxing round of golf this is one I would recommend.
