Tawas Creek Golf Club

About
Tawas Creek Golf Club has a traditional layout that has become a local favorite over the years. The course has been around since the 1950s and has since matured into a challenging round. The greens are somewhat smaller than those you would find on a more modern golf course but the fairways are wide and player friendly. The greens will test your accuracy but they're not overly challenging. Meandering streams crisscross the golf course, cutting through fairways and running alongside some of the holes. There are also several ponds that come into play. In addition to the water, there are bunkers lurking along the greensides and fairways as well as a few strategically positioned trees. The Tawas Creek layout is challenging but playable, making it a great venue for golf tournaments and events.

Other Reviews from Prior to Course Reopening
Course closed for sometime, previous reviews are before course reopened. Course conditions are below average: greens are in good condition (but slow), fairways are long and not distinguishable from rough, and tee boxes are cut short but a mixture of grass / weeds.
The front 9 appears to be the original older 9. The greens on this 9 have much more undulation and character the terrain on this 9 while still relatively flat are slightly rolling / moguled which provides more charm than the back 9. They had a 19th hole at one time, but it is in the process of being abandoned.
The walking rate is very reasonable - if one goes in with the right attitude, you can have an enjoyable round.
Greens are unplayable and fairways are like the pastures surrounding this course.
Sadly, this course is not being maintained. We played here last year and conditions were poor. Thought we would try again this year, but it was even worse. Pace was good because no one was there. We used to love this course, but won’t be coming back until some major improvements are made.
What a shame!!
It never was an overly nice course but even for the Hot Deal of $10 we over paid. Fairways are unidentifiable cause they look like a yard cut by an everyday mower. Greens were brown, cracked, and felt like I was putting on a mini golf turf. No amenities. No water in the ball washers. No trash cans.
Good Experience
As far as Muni's go this is a fair course that just needs a tad bit of love. Patrons obviously take care of this course, never saw a single divot in the fairways. Greens need some attention and the roughs punish your wayward shot as they should. Only one person on staff and the kitchen was closed however she was a gem. Can't beat the price and easy to walk, I made it in 2:42 for 18 holes. I'll be joining next season!!
Needs TLC
Hadn't played this course in about 15 years. Used to be an above average course. It was in terrible shape. The rough, tees and fringe areas were overgrown with weeds and dandelions. The fairways were sparse and needed lots of help. Greens were brown and spongy with lots of winter mold. Needed to be top dressed.
this course is burned-out
course bad bad bad shape !
Average course but good Golf Now value
18 holes with power cart for $10! The price was very good on Golf Now. The course was in pretty good shape but really needed water on tee boxes and fairways. There were many standing dead ash trees that needed to be cut down. The greens were in good shape for the most part, hole 17 green was in the worst shape with the green having some disease on one side. The course layout is fine but trees in the middle of three fairways(holes 5, 10 and 14) make tee shots and second shots a challenge for the average golfer.
Great value
The course is really coming along. They have been taking good care of the course and it show. The menu in the club house has been upgraded and is very good.
waste of money
Horrible conditions, weeds everwhere. Priced way to high for the conditions.

This course has not been taken care of, they are just starting to mow the roughs and no water system yet
