What has happened to Eagle Ridge?
I’ve been playing Eagle Ridge 10 to 12 times of summer since 2011.
This morning, I played in disintegrating and alarming course conditions from those of just 2 1/2 weeks ago.The tee boxes are uncut for likely 2 weeks, divots unfilled, trash receptacles un-emptied, and about as un-maintained as you can imagine.!
I remarked to an employee that municipal courses in the Detroit area with far more play are in better condition right now.
I understand that there’s been new owners since last year, and along with a 60% rate increase, it seems that whomever they’ve hired to maintain the course for them is doing a terrible job. It doesn’t appear that flags are rotated, it doesn’t appear that the tee markers are rotated either. It doesn’t appear that fertilizer is watered so as to soak into the green creating a gravelly result.
So far, I’ve seen far less people playing on the golf course this year than last.
I guess I would expect that since the course is way more expensive and in far poorer condition than it was even a year ago.
This is a real shame because Eagle Ridge has been somewhat of a hidden jewel in out-of-the-way Glennie, Michigan for years and years. Whomever owns the course now is in the midst of letting this one time jewel tank right into obscurity from neglect! They have clearly made changes on the clubhouse, but the golf course itself is turning into a cow pasture. I’ve included a picture of the 18th Tee box from this morning‘s play. Believe me, the picture makes the tee look a lot better than it actually looks when you were teeing your ball!
The tees all appear to have been in the shape of a dog chew toy. Hopefully, the owners will take note of reviews like mine and do something about this golf course!
Enjoyable Round
Very enjoyable round of golf. Felt at one with nature with no homes along course. Price was higher than expected for the course, but not way of base.
Worth a stop if in the area.
Nice Course
Played yesterday with my son - it was our 3rd time playing there this year. We enjoy the course, else we would not keep playing it! We will be back soon!
Nice course for the money, friendly staff !
I highly recommend Eagle Ridge , nice course for the money and friendly staff, I really enjoy playing here ⛳️
Grass needs some help
They must not run their sprinklers…there seemed to be only a few sprinkler heads anyways. Course was in really rough shape, almost no good grass to get a halfway decent lie. Greens were really slow.
Good news is the staff was very friendly, even pulled two carts up to the car for us. Also, there was next to nobody there on a Sunday morning, so pace of play was good.
