Not worth the money
The greens are still trash. I played in May and the staff said it was winter kill. Played again in September and they are no better. Can’t line up a putt correctly because there is no way the ball will roll where you hit it. Sand greens would be better than what they have here. Playing on greens that just got plugged would be better. It should be a crime how much they charge for the condition of the greens.
Nice course, poorly kept
Greens were very poor. Not sure why. Maybe winter kill? Fun course with lots of hazards and beautiful scenery. But again, issues with the greens and some fair ways made it not as enjoyable. And the sprinklers we on most of our round making us dodge water in the fairway and nearly every Tee box.
Fun course with some great water features!
Friendly staff and newer carts! Great food is available. Greens are a little dry this year but it's been hot. Fun course to play with beautiful views of the mountains.
Red Lodge
Nice layout. Excellent views. Friendly staff.
Greens are the worst I’ve ever played. Fairways below average.
Red Lodge
Nice layout. Great location and scenery.
Greens were the worst I’ve ever played. Fairways were average to below average
Horrible condition- time for a new green’s keeper?
Greens- worst I have ever seen over my 5 decades of golf. It looked like nothing was being done to bring them back.
Tees- some were level, most were not, and their coverage were a mixture of grass, weeds, dandelions, clover…
Layout- lots of promise; small greens (that should be easy to take care of) with some protection.
General condition- kind of a cow pasture from tee to green. It looks like they have done no fertilizing, no seeding, no aeration, ….. just no golf course care (though they charge a good green fee). IF THIS IS A TOP COURSE in MT, shame on MT.
A big disappointment and a liability for Red Lodge if they don’t address these concerns.
Greens Need Work
The setting is beautiful, the vibe is good. I want this course to succeed, but the greens were terrible. We had to play automatic 2 putts. They are mosaic shag carpet and dirt. I understand the course sits at over 5000 feet elevation, and it's a short growing season, but these greens need serious work. If there were some warning in the clubhouse, or a discounted price while repair work is done, I would be more forgiving. But, neither of these were offered, and so, I must be honest that I will not be back until the greens are in better shape. On the positive side, pace of play was great.
Horrible greens
It was the absolute worst
Could be an amazing course if they cared
Course is in an amazing location
The greens are the worst I’ve ever seen in my life. They have zero care for them. Don’t waste your money unless they offer under $30 green fee. Could be an amazing course if they cared about maintaining it.
Worst greens ever
Impossible to putt on these greens. Greens were patches of grass mixed in with sand and dirt. You'd have to see it to believe it. I was absolutely shocked that regular prices for this course were $78 for 18 with a cart. I wanted to love this course, but it was a major disappointment. Potential, but terrible upkeep and conditions
Red Lodge downfall
I hate to leave negative reviews but I have to. We played Red Lodge golf course for the first time in 3 years. Honestly, it was the worst golf course I have ever played. The greens are almost solid dirt. I don't see how they can ever come back, especially when they are still being used. The staff was excellent but the course should not allow anyone on the greens. We quit after 9, I hated to see this course in such horrible condition.
Winter-kill Greens
All 18 green surfaces were horrible. Extreme winter kill. Worse than last year. They need a good grounds keeper that understands the Montana weather.
