A golf course awkwardly stuck in between neighborhood streets
NuMark, once Himark, had 3 9 hole courses all reasonably setup, now 36 holes, the red course has the most unorthodox setup and is only 2700 or so yards even from the tips. No actual cart paths, rough tee boxes and a layout that feels more like an exec course than a full 9 hole course. They really shouldn't charge the same rate for the red course as they do for blue or white, which in theory the white is 18 only but they will let you play 9 if you ask nicely. The only good thing about the red is that you'll rarely have much wait time as most people will opt for white or blue.
White Course is a Pasture
Revamping the course was HUGE mistake….(but SHOW ME THE MONEY). Layout is horrible. They are using old green for new holes. Lots of blind shots. The ‘white’ course, mostly east of 98th Street looks like they TRIED to put a course on a PASTURE. This course was best laid out when it was 18 holes. THOSE holes are the best on the course.
The clubhouse is the third in about 25 years. Yep, moved and or demolished the others in the name of more streets and homes. I won’t go back.
Less bang for your buck
I have played the White course before and liked the challenge so I went back and got put on the Red course. It starts of with a pond surrounded by pvc gate and dog legs to the left which is not clear when looking at the scorecard. After the first hole spent almost 10 min. Looking for the second as there are no signs after the first hole directing you to where hole 2 is. After the first hole there is only hole 9 behind it. There is also no map online to the red course. Very frustrating. Some of the greens were covered with goose droppings and/or mud (it has not rained for a few days before this). Otherwise, for the most part it was still fun.
Loved the course but…
So the older gentleman that works in the club house, if you’d call him that, was being very rude from the beginning saying backhanded smart remarks and getting frustrated with us for just trying to pay for another one of our friends who also was trying golf for the first time and your employer made it very difficult and through the cart keys across the counter at us. Then fast forward on the 7th hole he drives up to us and accuses one of us for only paying for 9. (Fyi we all payed for 18) after me explaining this to he and how was the one who checked us out and that he saw me pay for 2 of us and my one friend like i said previously joined late and paid separately. We then get the the last 2 holes and he tells us we are going to slow and that we need to be faster and the way that we are playing is too slow even after me explaining that it was my two friends first times playing. So we then go as quick as possible even tho we have 30 minutes until you even close to get throught the 18th and half of 17th because we had already teed off. He then proceeds to watch us play our 17th hole before finally leaving back to the club house and letting us enjoy our golf. We then cleaned the carts out of all trash and our bags put them away and returned the carts all before 9pm. That employee overall ruined me and my two buddies experience at that golf course that day and im honestly really disappointed in the way he handled things when we were nothing but respectful to him.
Not a bad course but definitely has some flaws. It is rare to fine a flat spot on the tee boxes though all of the 36 holes on the complex and the fairways are a little shaggy on quite a few holes but overall not a bad experience. The highlight of the round was the greens although not the fastest greens, they do role pretty smooth and true! (Just wish people would take 2 seconds to repair their ball marks to show a little love to the course)
Great round tainted by course marshall
Great round at Numark. There was some brown spots on the greens but overall great course conditions. A few holes were put in spots that seemed to not be in line with rules of cup placements as they were in places that lied on a large change of slope. But the course Marshall yelling at us to not ride on the back of the cart going back into the parking lot really tainted the round. Young staff was great but the old guy course Marshall really seemed to have it out for us.
Great conditions
Beautiful course. Directions to the holes could be improved (missing or no signs)
You get what you pay for
It's fine for a cheap 18 with a cart. I played the white course from the white tees. The tee boxes are in rough shape. Fairways and greens are in average shape. Bunkers either standing water or cement pits. Unpaved cart paths are very uncomfortable to traverse. Our cart squealed and sputtered the entire round. It was also full of trash when we picked it up. There's a blind tunnel between, I think, the 3rd green and 4th tee box. It's only wide enough for 1 cart at a time. The problem is that it's a shared path for players coming to the home stretch on the back 9. We almost collided with another group. The tunnel was also flooded with 4 to 6 inches of standing water.
The layout is pretty nice. Some tight tee shots and some wide open ones. Some challenging elevation changes and sneaky hazards. You really have to play the contours of the terrain. It was was warm and dry and the fairways were bouncing hard and running hot. Expect to donate a ball or two to the course if you're a mid to high handicapper. Had a short par 3 that made for a nice confidence booster. Staff was friendly and proactive. There was a group holding up play and they moved them along. They even came out to every group behind them and apologized.
Overall it's probably what you would expect for the price point. I got a "hot deal" for $32. Unlikely to return, but glad I took the chance to play it.
