Beautiful Gem
This course was super fun to play, the hole positions lead to some very challenging greens. The greens were in great condition overall. The pace of play was excellent. 10/10 would recommend and will be playing here again!
Not the best year to play
I paid $20 using my Big Red Golf Pass.
This course like many in this part of the state has gotten its tail kicked by the weather. At one point this spring it was under water and the greens show it.
The fairways are lush and the rough is deep in places, but there are also some roughs that are just weeds and crap. So if you are a duffer like me, you are better off giving up length to stay in the fairway..
The greens have some slant, but not a lot of character beyond that. It looks like they have been dressed several times. Overall the greens were C- condition.
This course has a challenging layout. This year #2 is a long short par 4 (but well guarded by water and trees) and #4 is a short par 3 with tees off of a mat.# 5 is a par 5 with zero room on the right and #10 is a par 3 with an elevated tee.
# 15 is a long par 5 -- stay right because it doglegs left the last 100 yards.
Top notch golf course
Course was in great condition! Challenging but fair, greens were outstanding!
Unbelievable
This course is in rural Oakland, Nebraska. I'm from California, and used to conditions in courses in Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada. This course could challenge any of those for conditions. The fairways were fast and firm, as were the greens. This is one of the few courses I can say I've played that one gets that firm roll off of drives in the fairway. You must think of where the ball might roll!
As far as difficult conditions, most holes aren't that tough, and I played from the tips, about 6600 yards. There is one hole that I'd like to mention that seems a bit contrived, and that's the par 5 8th hole. It is out of bounds along the entire right side because of the driving range, and no, I didn't hit there, I birdied the hole. However, I think good course design allows the player to hit from anywhere on course property. I understand the issue about safety, but I think that should be up to the player.
The bunkers are filled with REAL SAND, a novelty in Nebraska. Where do they get it from? These are the best bunkers I've played in all of Nebraska.
My opinions aside, this is one of the best courses I've ever seen in Nebraska. At the price they charge, it is a must play for anyone in the Eastern Nebraska area.
Great Course
First time I played this course and was amazed at how great in shape it was. Played from the championship tees which made it much more difficult. Very fun. Will definitely do again.
very nice course
the course was in very nice condition. had some very large greens and rolled very true. would like to play again.
Great little gem!
Better than we expected for $18, great course in great shape and friendly staff. No beverage cart out the day we played and 97 degrees.
Worth the drive
Very we'll maintained small town country club. No waiting ever at the tee box on a Sunday! Fun course, not too easy and not too challenging! Loved playing along corn fields opposed to city housing.
Much harder then it looks
This was a fun course. At first I thought with it being so short it would be easy. But after my first 4 putt I realized I had my work cut out for me on these challenging greens.
Greens are outstanding
Course offers a broad selection of holes. The par threes are all over 150 yards which requires accuracy to small to medium size greens; one requires carrying over water at least 150. I would recommend to all ages and skill levels.
Beautiful course
Beautiful layout. Professional type course in the rural small town!!
Well worth the drive.
Challenging course in excellent condition. Huge greens that rolled very nice. Not super long... but there are a couple very lengthy holes if you tip it out. OB and hazards to deal with, seemingly on every shot, which forces you to hit well placed shots. I had a great time and will return!
Great course
The course is a fun place to play and can't be beat for the money. Staff very friendly. Pro shop was small but accommodating and the course does a fine job in making up for that
Eastern Nebraska's Hidden Gem
This golf course is very lush. It's rare to have a bad lie in the fairways and shoulder rough. The overall layout and hazards make the course interesting and challenging, but definitely not overwhelming. I have little doubt that if this course was located in an urban area it would be packed on a daily basis. Since it's rural and at least a half hour drive for most folks, I find the course almost empty at mid-day during the week. It's a shame for the course, but great for my solitude-loving self!
The layout of this course has a great variety of holes.
One of the best courses in Nebraska! Challenging yet fair.
