Pace of play
Nice course...well maintained for the most part, but expect long waits at most every hole. You will find neither marshalls not course etiquette here, so expect a 4-6 hour round. Greens can be rough in places as people do not repair pitch marks. The staff isn't so much friendly as they are tolerating of you interrupting their day. There are really no other courses to compete in the area, so they know they have you if you're wanting to play. With proper management and staff, this could easily be a top 10 in the state, but when you mention pace of play to staff, you're greeted with a haphazard dismissal and sent on your way.
Can’t wait to finish!
I was only able to play seven out of 18 holes mostly because I had a graduation party to attend however, play was really slow. I was able to acquire a hot deal online so to play a round of 18 golf, or to potentially play a round of golf for two people at the price that I got is astounding. I hope to finish my round at Rockwind in the future. I look forward to doing so.
Golf in Hobbs!
Rockwind is a true gem! Played the Par 3 course a couple of days before the 18, both are great courses and in good shape. The 18 has a few tricky holes, but is straightforward for the most part. I will be back for sure.
Delayed play
I had two groups of 3 jump in front of me at my tee time. They played very slowly. Causing long delays on most holes. It took almost 6 hours to play 18 holes.
One of the best public courses I have played
I was very surprised with how nice everything was for being a city corse.
Great course
The entire experience was enjoyable. Pace of play was a little slow, but it was not a huge issue. The course is challenging for a person working on accuracy and control, so it's a great opportunity to gauge my skill development.
Great Sat Day!
Weather was in the 100’s but a little breeze made it enjoyable. Great day with son and friends.
Hidden Gem!
You really don't expect to find a beautiful course like this in our area. When you turn in, you kind of forget you're in Hobbs NM haha. Being from Midland where you can pay 140/round to play a private course as a guest and the course is in pretty unacceptable shape, the value for the round is EXCEPTIONAL! Extremely well kept boxes and fairways, thick, lush rough, and OB is what you'd expect from SE NM. The greens are challenging, and very well kept. Staff was super friendly and helpful, the clubhouse is immaculate and pretty luxurious with a full bar and beers on draft. Food was all great and served in a timely manner!
Great public course
Was in great condition. Love the layout. All the greens were in awesome shape.
Nice course in the middle of nowhere.
Rockwind is a hidden gem in Hobbs New Mexico. Fairways in great condition almost year round. Rough is soft but thick which allows the ball to sit up more making it easier to find but difficult to hit out of. Definitely wanna take more club than you think to it. Greens were well cut and maintained. Some crazy slopes and breaks make putting fun and challenging. Definitely wanna get your 2nd shot close to the pin on 9. That green has 2 different levels with about 5-7 ft of elevation difference.
DONT PAY FULL PRICE IF YOU'RE FROM OUT OF TOWN. If you don't get a deal on Golf Now, Rockwind charges a $20 non-locals fee on top of your green/cart fee.
Great food in the grill!
Great Course
Great bang for the buck. Course is always in great shape. Pace of play can be slower at busy weekends. Course lay out if fun and challenging. Course can play long or short depending on tees you choose. The biggest defense is the rough, tough to find balls and absolute club head speed killer. Love it here. Would recommend to anyone
Great course
