Worst conditions ever

Drove 700 miles to play a "resort" golf course. Worst conditions ever played. Front nine fairways were 2 inches thick with yellow and white flowers covering fairways. Rough was 5 inches thick. Hit two balls in fairway and could not find ball. Spent more time looking for balls than enjoying golf. Greens were aeriated, but no sand to fill holes so like putting on a shag carpet with gopher holes. Just luck of draw to make a 4 footer. 2 of the 3 par 5s, had to hit 8 or 7 off tee to keep in fairway due to severe dogleggs. Several par fours, I would say were not a fair test of golf due to ridiculous dogleg angle. Back nine was mowed, but fairways still over inch thick. Course is more design for golfers that average 200 yards or less off the tee. Several tee boxes had no grass , so was hitting off dirt or mud. I understand that it was just open after winter, but starting up a mower and using it would have not hurt the grass and $55 green fee was ridiculous. If I could say a couple of good things about course, it would be the carts were new and head pro was very friendly. Course may improve in another month or two, but do not play the course in May or June ever.

Worst conditions ever played

Just traveled 700 miles to play a "resort" golf course. Worst conditions I've every played. Front nine fairways weres 2 inches thick with yellow and white flowers covering the fairways. Rough was 5 inches thick. Lost two balls that went in middle of fairway. This course is more for golfers that average 200 yards or less off the tee. 2 of the 3 par fives, had to hit 8 or 7 iron off tee to keep it in what were called fairways. Greens were aeriated but no sand to fill holes, so like putting on small gopher holes. Duck poop all over one par three. I understand the course had just open after winter, but no reason not to mow grass. Back nine was mowed, but still fairways were one inch high and rough was still 5 inches. Spent more time looking for balls than enjoying a round of golf. I'm a 6 handicap player and thought several par 4's were not a fair test of golf due to severe doglegs. Maybe conditions will improve in a month of so, but a $55 green fee now is ridiculous. I know I could have not played, but driving all that way, I expected a course to be at least playable. This was not. Many greens had bare spots and of course trying to make a 4 foot putt was just a luck of the draw. 50% of tee boxes had no grass, so standing in dirt and mud. If I could say one good thing about the course, it would be the golf carts were new and the pro there was very friendly.

Lovely mountain course

Pendaries is a great mountain course. The greens are difficult and in great shape. There are a few places in the fairways that are dry and grass is sparse.

back after two years

Played this course two years ago and fairways and greens were in great shape. The fairways looked a little beat up this year and some of the greens had some die off places. Still enjoyed the play and well worth the trip and fee. Staff was very nice.

Fun mountain golf

Pendaries is always a fun day trip from Angel Fire to play mountain golf. This year the lack of rain has been hard on the fairways and the grass is sparse. With more rain in July those conditions should improve. Greens except for one of them were in good shape. Friendly staff and local people. Beautiful drive over and back.

Food expensive

Charging for lettuce tomatoes and pickles on a burger was outrageous. Staff was friendly but overpriced food.

Desperate Situation

Course is a good layout for a mountain course. However, due to the drought and apparently no irrigation system, the course is in terrible condition — essentially dead fairways, and 16 of 18 greens are a disaster. Despite that they maintain a green fee in the $60 range.I paid half that on a GolfNow Hot Deal, and it was barely worth that. I probably won’t be back till they either get rain or do something about irrigating the place

Pendaries

Good course, fun layout, but drought conditions mitigate some of the fun. Would love to play again after a couple of weeks of rain.

Fun course

This course is a great layout and fun to play. Fairways are really thin but should improve in weeks ahead. Greens have not recovered from winter and are pretty spotty with the exception of a couple of greens. However, the greens and fairways were well mown. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed a burger and beer on the deck following our round.

Greens are unplayable

Greens are unplayable. Greens are an inch thick with sand and deep cuts . Not worth the money yet, greens should improve in a month.

Very disappointing

We drove 120 miles each way to play a soggy course with tiny, hard to hold, beat up greens. The only reason I gave it as good a rating as I did is that is was cheap to play - if you shop for a bargain. To me, it's a poorly designed golf course in the "middle of nowhere". If you play there and have low expectations then you will not be disappointed.
