Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club
About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

Been a while since i played here; It was great!
It had been a year since i had been here and last time it seemed like it was on the decline, but i have to say the course looked great and it was very pleasant.
Long course, tight fairways
Title says it all. But I liked it and would play again.
the course is kept in great shape
I like playing here the course is kept in great shape especially spruce and oak ,dogwood not as good as other 2 but not bad.The course is long not one of these narrow short condo type courses, this was built in 1960,s when plenty of land to build. The carts have gps. I play in afternoons and have usally finished in 4hrs which is better than 6 hr round at bethpage. The clubhouse is old with few amenities but if you just want a good fast round of golf on a well kept and challenging course then check it out
Money well worth it!
Enjoyable course. Areas around green, especially beyond rough, could be better maintained. Bar area could use updating. Fortunately, twosome in front of me allowed me to play thru to finish round in 3 hours.
Pretty Nice Course
First time playing this course on Sunday, 8/24/14.
Good condition, very scenic, some very interesting holes with crazy pin placement. Front nine took 2 hours and 45 minutes and the staff couldn't care less. Played Dogwood on the back 9 in 1 and a half hours. Much more enjoyable pace. Overall I will not be playing this course again.
Middle Island
There was an outing going on, and we did not play more then 3 holes, and we turned around and tried a different course. When we finished the 9, the starter misinformed us and there was an even bigger delay. The staff was rude and unaccomadating. Your site never should have sold the time.
Middle island golf club
long course" par 3's are long, par 5 's long and tight, have to be extra careful, challenging, greens are fine. needs cutting, fairways are maintained,.
Good course
Speed of play was good. 4 hours. Conditions excellent. No refreshment on the course no water either.
nice course
Course in great shape. Greens were a little slow.
The course was empty took less than 3 hours to play.
Oil spill spoils the day
The day was great Unfortunately we had to play the same 9 holes TWICE as the OAK course had an oil spill and the SPRUCE was backed up with a very long wait I would think that the course should offer a free half round or discounted full round , but , that was not offered

Played Dogwood to Spruce. Both very nice. Will go back soon.
Excellent 27 hole course. Any combo of the nines is good.
Excellent 27 hole course. Have played on all combinations of the three nines. Spruce is the nicest. All three in extremely good shape especially the greens which are huge. Very long par threes and tight fairways like all 27 hole courses. Have to stay in the middle. A lot of trees separating the fairways.
The course and greens were in great shape.
I enjoyed playing there and using Golf Now was a real bargain. The only drawback was people don't fix their ball marks on the greens. Other than that it was excellent .
Good, Moderate.
Oak tree course was more hilly and challenging. Spruce was mostly flat and had wider fairways. Overall green and fairway condition was good.
Nice course, slow play
Fairways and greens are in great shape. Miss the fairway and you can be playing from patches of grass/dirt. With three 9 hole courses I expected the pace to be much better. We arrived early to warm up or try and get out earlier then our tee time. We did not see anyone tee off in the hour we warned up but were told
We could not tee off early. Just before our time 2 groups went out and we wound up waiting on nearly every hole. Something must have changed after us because we did not see a group behind us on the entire back 9. Starter was unfriendly borderline rude.
Overall nice course, would go back but either later afternoon or weekdays
Middle island
The course was in good shape and the pace of play was fine. I will definitely play there again.
good, challenging course. great variety of holes
Course is in great condition, getting better each year since the new ownership took over. Greens have been consistently excellent even after minor airation. Hopefully they'll be able to turn their attention to the clubhouse in the next few years, as it's in need of an overhaul.
Great Round, Greatly improved Courses
I have been to MICC before but not in the last few years. My past experiences led me to look for other courses to play locally. Having heard all the rumors about money being spent to improve these courses, I decided to see for myself. What a surprise. The fairways are now all grass, not the crab grass I remembered. The greens were perfect, rolled and without ball marks. We teed of 7:30 and were finished at 11:25. A hair under 4 hours. Will definitely be playing MICC more often....
ALMOST THERE..........
Staff was cordial and professional. The course is a great layout and well maintained. They could add a little more rough in places to increase the challenge. The greens are fast enough to enjoy and not hard to read. Very playable for all skill levels. The clubhouse does not have much to offer. Although large, it is in need of a major renovation. Overall conditions were very good. I feel this course is about two years away to living up to the prices charged. Nicer courses in the immediate area don't charge as much. A very good experience overall. I will return..........
Middle Island Jewel
Enjoy this great course combo. This track is pristine and has been revamped by the new management. This is a well kept course. I've played private courses on LI and this one is WELL KEPT from tee boxes to fairways from rough to bunkers from in the woods to greens. True, tough yet fair. Have fun.
