Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club

About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

Fair
I don’t normally leave a review but hoping this gets some attention. My group and I felt the Tee boxes needed help. The fairways should have been in better shape considering all the rain we have had recently. In most cases it was like hitting off of hard pan with a fine layer of grass. Ball was not sitting up. By no means am I in the fairway on every hole. But when I am, I would like an advantage of my ball sitting up. Recent aeration still making putts difficult. Maybe there should have been a discount or warning before booking. Other than that pace was good, sand traps were well maintained and Staff was great.
Greens
Greens were aerated recently, not informed at time of booking, almost impossible to make a putt.
Middle Island
Decent shape for this time of year. Greens a little bumpy
Great Corse And Good Shape

Middle Island Great Shape For February
Considering it is February,Middle Island is in Great shape.. Fairways were ok,. Greens were ok. Fun 18 holes.
Good speed for a busy day
Two foursomes in front of us, busy day after everyone was itching to play some golf.(it had snowed and rained for weeks prior). Some bunkers had some standing water in them still but as I said it went from snow to rain this was the first not wet day in weeks. Overall course was in good shape and the speed of play was good. A little pricey for the time of year, but overall a good day.
Very expensive for winter rates..rough was in poor condition..starter has no personality and very dry
Gorgeous course
First time playing here and beat my expectations. 27 holes is awesome and could keep you at the course all day.
