Slow round 6/8/2025
What you would expect on a Sunday after a rainy Saturday = 5+ hour round so not entirely surprising. Course is in decent condition soggy in some places due to rain, but on 4 maybe 5 holes tee-boxes are being redone so they played up (still didn't help my score) (at least they're will be redone and reopened). I would say lots of beginners that afternoon so ergo the slow play. Ranger was seen but not helping with speeding up play.
Mapple Moor in Great Shape
Apple Moor is my base course, is in great shape this year. The front nine is kind of basic but the challenging back nine could have been built based on left over plans for near by Winged Foot or Quaker Ridge.
Maple Moore in Good Shape
Thought course in excellent shape as good as I have seen it in recent years.
Staff is horrible
Showed up a few minutes before for my Tee Time 100% ready to go and the person in the pro shop said he already sold my tee time to someone else. I had to wait an extra 30 minutes before I could go out. He continued to question if I have ever even golfed before and was super rude. Apparently the workers take cash bribes from people to get out earlier.
nice course with good amentities but....
Nice course, greens are easy but TINY.
Nice facilities, including bar/restaurant, pseudo driving range, half way hut. Pace is dreadful because there's so many rich kids in the area who want to golf but can't hit a shot to save their lives. Overheard a conversation by the starter, he's definitely a little racist.
A bit surprised
I've played this course many times. I was surprised to see a couple of tee boxes closed and some areas in the fairway under repair this early in the season. Hoping it gets better
Value for Money
Positives
1. Relatively close for anyone staying in the WP area.
2. Great restaurant at the start point. Very friendly staff
3. Good Halfway Hut. Very friendly staff
Negatives
1. Average to Above Average check-in experience from a friendliness / efficiency standpoint. Note - They charge a dollar for "cart keys" which was new to me and post the round I returned a the cart drop off and headed back to the parking lot. It was not clearly explained if this dollar was refundable.
2. The greens are tiny and do not hold the ball. Too firm for any check / stop. They are also uneven in speed.
3. Pace of Play - Poor. Played mid-day on Monday and it took us around 5 hours. Note: It's the start of the golf season and the weather was great , however the course could use with more effective marshaling.
4. No Driving Range - Thus (like me) if you plan to come early to warm up / hit some balls - this is not an option. They have a putting green - note this green is well maintained (unlike the course).
Overall: I would still play this course as time slots are relatively easy to get. However, there are better options out there.
My compliments to the lady at the restaurant (above the pro-shop) as well as the young gentleman at the half-way hut for their kindness.
