In pictures: A new horizon for Mid South Club in the Carolina Sandhills

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- The Members Course at Mid South Club at Talamore Resort is better than ever, thanks to this summer's greens renovation to Champion Bermuda.

Following along the lines of nearby Pinehurst No. 2 and several other high profile courses in the area, the conversion from bentgrass to Champion allows for the best possible summer and fall play. With the renovation completed this summer, the Arnold Palmer-Ed Seay Course that opened in 1993 has never been in better shape. Along with the greens, several bunkers were redone as well.

The project was led by Jeffrey Stein and Gaspar Cardona from Southport, N.C.-based Shapemasters, which completed a similar project on the main course at Talamore Golf Resort last summer.

As for the Mid South Course, the par 71 plays just over 7,000 yards from the tips. There are plenty of bunkers, water hazards and now, perfect greens. The course has great hole variety and several that could be termed signature holes, including the par-4 16th with water off the tee and on the approach.

While the course is private, it is available to visitors who book packages to Talamore Golf Resort, which has three other courses available as well.
