Jack Nicklaus' La Paloma Country Club ranks among Tucson's best

TUCSON, Ariz. -- La Paloma Country Club is among the top desert golf courses in Tucson. Set on 800 acres in the Catalina foothills and designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1984, the golf course received a facelift, overseen by the Golden Bear himself, in the last two years that has enhanced the green complexes in particular.

The golf course features three nine-hole loops, the Hill, Ridge and Canyon courses, all of similar length and difficulty, winding through the La Paloma luxury residential development. Each plays a par 36 and is between 3,460-3,554 yards from the championship tees. The golf course is set on dramatic desert terrain with each fairway its own island. Homes tend to line the fairways but are usually built on slopes well above the golf course, which helps keep them out of play and often out of sight.

La Paloma Country Club is a private club managed by Troon Golf, though guests of the Westin La Paloma, on site and within walking distance of the clubhouse, have playing privileges here.
