PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- At the four-course Innisbrook Resort & Club, the Island Course is widely considered the second fiddle to the PGA Tour host course, the Copperhead.

But the Island is every bit of a championship examination. Playing to nearly 7,200 yards, it has hosted top NCAA events, U.S. Open qualifying and LPGA events.

The golf course was recently renovated and lengthened to remain a relevant test to today's players.

Like Innisbrook's Copperhead Course, there is a great deal of rolling hills, a rarity for this part of Florida, which really aides in the hole variety.

The first six holes are more low lying and play through a mix of wetlands and Cypress trees. The sixth hole, named "Cypress Tunnel," plays through a narrow opening of Cypress trees. From here, the course then creeps in to the most elevation change on the property, with elevated tee shots and greens. The par-4 ninth hole is particularly notable for it's dogleg left followed by a downhill shot over water to the green.

To play any of the four Innisbrook courses, golfers must stay at this Salamander-brand property. Each of the four courses have their own clubhouse and the Island also has its own driving range a short shuttle-ride away.
