Reviews
Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta Nayar Golf Course
Excellent track with outstanding caddies. Play in California 200x a year and found this track really special.
Definitely will play again soon!
Endless travel between holes
Long cart distance between some holes, caddy mandatory..... to find our way on the course between the holes more then helping us with our game.
Great time
Great time playing with my son. Our cady AJ was excellent and fun.
Enjoy a beautiful golf round
Lovely golf round with caddie Ignacio, who helped me to considerably better my score. Enjoyed some nice pars, suffered a bit in the bunkers, all in all a lovely golf afternoon. Can't wait to be back
Fantastic
Course is ready for the Mexico Open PGA tournament next month. It is spectacular
Great course
Course was in excellent condition with the exception of the greens. They had recently been sanded so bumpy and slow. I know they have the PGA event in a month so they are prepping for that. I'd definitely come play it again, however I wouldn't pay $250+ for green fees. Tee off was the best deal at around 125. Caddy was super helpful and a lot of fun.
Playing with the Pros!
An excellent opportunity to play a course that will be played by best players in Mexico and the world.
All aspects of the course are excellent. Scenic, beautifully groomed and challenging.
For people with walking difficulties it is tough as it is cart path only.
A worthwhile experience!
Lovely golf round
A lovely round with caddie Ignacio. Was happy about some nice pars, the fairways in excellent shape, greens bit quick for me, bunker tough, all in all an excellent golf day. Resort shuttle fast and pro shop staff very friendly. Can't wait for the next round on Friday.
Good not excellent
Played here twice this week and enjoyed both rounds. Great facilities and caddies (mandatory one per foursome). Stayed on site and teed off early so had no issues with getting started. There is a good mix of holes but it is very apparent that the course has been cobbled together from different times and architects (with different types of grasses used - at least three varieties). As I understand it, only half of the original Nicklaus layout remains intact, which is why his name is no longer associated with the track. Redevelopment at Vidanta removed several of the original holes and shortened it to a par 70. It does feel like a patchwork quilt, especially the front 9. Conditions were pretty good, although not as consistent as the Norman course.
Loved it
Played the course twice this week and felt much more comfortable the second time around. It's cart path only because of the upcoming Mexico Open (end of April) but the plus-side is that the course is in outstanding condition. The course is quite flat with only modest terrain change but in the afternoon sun it can get tiring if you are hitting it where the cart can't go. Having a caddy (mandatory, one per foursome) certainly helped a few times in that regard. Whites at 6300 (par 73) were ample for me (10 hcp); the folks who I played with who took on the blues at 6800 (10+ hcps) struggled, especially as the wind came up into the afternoon (as it does). The course has a little of everything: short, medium and long par 3s; a good mix of par 4s (including a very driveable one) and six par 5s, including a couple of monsters on the back 9, If you're staying on site at Vidanta it's easy to check in and store your clubs overnight. I imagine it's a lot trickier if you are coming from off-site. The facilities are great, the staff was very friendly and every caddy I had over the week (4) was very helpful.
Vidanta Norman before the Mexico Open
Wanted to play Vidanta Norman as they ready it for the Mexico Open April 24-27. While it was in pretty good shape, the greens were sanded and far slower than usual, and it was cart path only (something the staff failed to mention when I called in advance to ask about restrictions). Fairways are excellent, sand traps were very heavy (different from previous experience). Our caddy Ramiro successfully negotiated us passing the foursome in front of us on hole 4, who were basically non-golfers playing a scramble (on hole #1 one of their group even walked 80 yards back from the green down the fairway to take my ball while we were hitting our tee shots). Once past them, it was clear sailing, with nobody in front. In hindsight it will probably be better to play right after the Open to experience the best condition. Regardless, a great day.
