Course was in very good shape, greens were rolling true. Atmosphere is always fun during & following the round.
Very playable
Course was in very playable condition compared to other courses played in the area. Straightforward layout and fair. Enjoyed the round.
Course in good shape. Trouble with Golf Now
I have played here many times over the years. The course was in fine shape from the tee boxes to the bunkers to the greens. Good job!
I tried to use my credits on Golf Now to book a tee time where you pay Golf Now and not Bear Trap. I tried this twice and Bear Trap simply would not confirm the tee time. But when I reserved a tee time whereby I paid Bear Trap the tee time was confirmed. Annoying.
However, I had a fine round the following day.
Great course, mediocre management
The course conditions are immaculate. Fairways are maintained and the greens rolled pure on every hole. We stayed at a house in the Bear Trap Dunes community and we could see them working to maintain the course from 6 am onward. Unfortunately, we were on pace for a 5.5 hour twilight round because the group in front of us was playing from the Blues and averaging 120 yards off the tee. At no point did any member of the management come around to move them along quicker, and we actually saw our starter enjoying a cocktail at the bar while we frustratingly made the turn. Luckily, we went rogue and played the private Kodiak course and got our second 9 finished in just about 1.5 hours. A top tier course and layout, but if you’re going to pay $90 for twilight or, God forbid, $150-160 for a morning round, there better either be a ranger moving pace of play or a floozy cart girl on every hole.
Great value for challenging course
First time playing the course
- great value when tee’ing off past 3:30pm at the discounted rate
- easy check-in and range balls plus cart were included
- pace of play was pretty slow initially but not unexpected given the wide range of skill levels out there
- obvious public presence on the course given the number of unfixed divots but overall most holes were in good shape
- challenging dogleg holes throughout and plenty of water and sand
Would definitely book another tee time here in the future.
