not ready for early tee time
I love the course but warm up is important to me and their range was not ready. I get hitting off of mats this time of year, but the mats were not out nor were the balls. I had about 5 minutes to hit balls before my tee time!
This course if fun to play.
The PRO shop staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They even got us off 45 minutes before our scheduled tee off time. We were going to grab a quick bite to eat in the dining room. That was a mistake! The waitress had an attitude and it took them 30 minutes to prepare a hot dog which was their special. In addition to that the hot dog was over cooked and not good. 2 hot dogs, 2 cokes were $28+ dollars. We ate dinner for less than that. I would recommend the course but not the dining!
Great day at Kiva Dunes
I love Kiva Dunes!! Great course and the weather was great as well! A little on the pricey side, but well worth it on a perfect day.
Kiva Dunes
A friend and I played Kiva Dunes on 12/04/23. The weather was a little windy on the day we played it and I’m not sure if that is the norm. Lucky we were either against it or it was at our backs. The course itself was in great shape from tee to green. The greens are very large, and some have multi tiers to them. They were firm, fast and rolled true. There are a couple unique features about the course. After completing a hole, the next tees are switchbacks, where you need to turn around to go to the next tee. There were no issues because there were signs, and we were told about it from the starter. The course itself is pretty much in front of you and what you see is what you get once you get ready for your next shot. The course has some risk reward holes, and you can get into trouble with the driver. I learned that on #9, which is a blind tee shot with a lake guarding the green. Water, marsh, and sand traps do come into play. This was my first time playing a Jerry Pate course and look forward to playing other courses of his. The entire staff inside and out were very friendly and professional. If I’m in the area again I would not hesitate to play this course again.
Great Course
I travel to Gulf Shores every year and Kiva Dunes Is my first choice for Golf
SLOW SLOW
I was in a 3-some of 3 decent golfers.
A FIVESOME went off in front of us, playing a scramble of some sort.
We waited on EVERY SHOT!
No Marshall anywhere in sight for the entire 5 hour round.
The 5-some had no idea on golf etiquette and made for a miserably long round.
After spending $260 for 2 of us, was disappointed in the experience.
Not at their best today
I like this course and will play it again.
But, there were multiple five-somes on the course today and no marshal. When I asked about it after the round in the pro shop my comments were dismissed with an annoyed look, saying the pace of play is under five hours so it’s ok, which is a comment I expect at a $30 municipal, not a $150 per round resort after I had just spent another $200 in merchandise.
Great shape
Played several courses in the area but clearly the best of them
Ridiculous
Overplayed, undermaintained dog track.
Pace of play was ridiculous. Every shot 5 to 10 min. wait, multiple tee boxes 20 min. wait, totally unacceptable.
