Weird Course
Strangest course I’ve ever played. Blind shots, not many drivers hit, greens were hard and fast. Pace of play was poor. Recommend you don’t play this course without someone who knows the course. No halfway house and several roped off fairways. I won’t ever go back.
Not playing this course ever again.
We arrived at 1:45 pm for a 2:20pm tee time. We started on time however we instantly saw the course and ALL the grass on the tee boxes, fairways and roughs were yellow and dead. We were told by the marshal on thr 4th hole that they were getting ready for “overseeding”. You can not overseed completely dead grass. The pace of play slowed down to a standstill waiting up to 10 minutes on the tee box due to a backup of golfers. We then found out there was a tournament being held before us at 1pm. We were not notified of this prior to teeing off. The best part was that we could only play 12 holes as the course had a policy of shutting down at 6pm. Great value! We paid full price and not a Twilight price.
I have golfed at the AZ Grand at least 25 times. Never again. Avoid playing here at all costs.
Golf now should refund our money.
Signed,
An avid but disgusted golfer
Good course with interesting holes
Course layout is interesting. The practice facilities are minimal. I didn't down rate the course since it was going into over seed. The practice green was not in good shape. The greens on the course were fine
DO NOT GOLF HERE- Shady Operation
I’ve golfed here a few times and genuinely never left happy. The course layout is “wonky” is the best way I can describe it. Course conditions are almost always terrible. Oddly enough, they were preparing for overseed and it was some of the better conditions I’ve seen there. I booked a 3:00 tee time for 18 holes and staff pushed my tee time back to 3:30. However, the course closes at 6, which would’ve been great info to know beforehand. Nowhere on GolfNow or their website did it say their course closes at 6. A ranger came around and corralled everyone around 5:45 to literally follow us all back to club house like children. There had to be atleast 28 golfers who paid for 18 holes and didn’t get to finish due to the course closure time no one was aware of. They shouldn’t even allow you to book 18 holes past 2pm knowing darn well no one will finish in that time. Pace of play here is typically 5 hours or more. Never going back after the way the staff handled the situation.
Good Value
The course was in average condition as overseeding is taking place in Arizona. However, it was a fun course with some nice blind shot holes.
Always a challenge
About the 15th time I’ve played this course, and it’s always a good time. The one thing that I can’t figure out is why in the world would you have cart path only on almost half the holes when overseed starts in a couple days? Front nine took just over 2 hours, but the back nine took closer to 3 hours! Saw a ranger once in almost 5 hours and he was kinda rude. It seemed like he was more interested in flirting with the cart girl.
Wait until the over seeding is completed.
Wait until the over seeding is complete and the course greens up. It is currently brown and extremely dry.
Fun golf course
This was just before overseed so the course was dry but still in decent shape. I love the layout, just wish they would fix the putting green.
Course was in poor shape … needed to play around the workers preparing for overseeding.
Need to pull crabgrass by greens
AZ Grand has new carts with GPS and is spending money on course. Need to pull (not mow) crabgrass by edges of a few greens. Back nine is tough but panoramic.
5 Min Tee Times
We had three groups in front of us with Tee Times 5 minutes apart in 100 degree temperatures. Waiting every hole; we gave up on the 13th and drove back to the clubhouse. We gave that feedback to the clubhouse and they had no interest in our concerns; they’re purely interested in maximizing profits. For perspective we had a 11:20 tee time and we drove off the 13th after our drive at 3:10pm.
Overall decent track w/ interesting layout
Course was in good shape (despite getting ready for overseeding), staff is friendly and pace was good.
A couple things that might bug people: 1. No driving range, just a small hitting net. 2. Signage is a little hard to follow. Wasn't sure where the appropriate bag drop was and the route between a lot of holes goes off property and into some funky areas.
Don't let the short yardage fool you. Back 9 is very tight, with undulating & blind shots. Definitely need to approach it with some course management in mind or you will lose balls to the wildlife.
good course, a bit on the rougher side for conditions
good greens, very hard tee boxes and all fairways were brown. overseeing prep has definitely begun. paying full price is a bit rough but still great course. will definitely be back
Nice course
It was super backed up today so we couldn’t finish our round. But that happens, it was a good time and fun time nonetheless.
Fantastic Four
Course was in great shape, all but number two as there was construction going on in the fairway which limited this hole to basically a par 3. Disappointing, but other than that a great experience.
