Greens were spotty
Greens were dirt and sand in some spots but it was still pretty good and fast. Not too much of a bother. Overall it was a good outing. Not too busy
Not as good as it used to be
I travel to Arizona annually and have played this course before. This year it wasn’t in as good of shape as previous. Worst part though was pace of play. Almost a 6 hour round. Because the rates are reasonable for winter golf in Arizona, I suspect they overbooked. I won’t be back
Greens need some help
This course is quite challlenging. Most fairways and greens have slopes to them so you need to know where to land. Greens are in pretty bad shape so they were very hard to putt on. These need ablotbofbTLC. Love the course for its interesting holes and elevation changes. Staff are very friendly and service is great.
Really disappointed!
Tee boxes chewed up like a Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Greens rock hard and wouldn’t hold a wedge shot or run up shot. Fairways were 2/3 green and 1/3 brown/dead!
The views from the mountain holes were nice, but save your money and buy a postcard!
If You Want a Goat Track Gimmicky Course You'll Love It!
Wow...what a horrible experience. This is my first review EVER, of literally anything. I went with a friend to the Arizona Grand course and I have played many poor condition Munis but this was on an entirely different level. Played extremely difficult because the fairways roll like fast greens and have inexplicable slopes everywhere and the greens roll like a frozen lake. I'm not sure the greens were even really grass? was completely dead, hasn't been watered in ages, and totally ridiculous green complexes. I am an 8 handicap and a course like that played more like a 15 handicap for me because NOTHING holds the green and some holes are attempting to simulate Bethpage black or something with these absurd 50-foot hills, hills that take you ball 40 yards from the green after you hit a perfect wedge that landed 8 feet from the hole on an UPHILL slope. If you enjoy hitting 300 yd bombs right down the middle that disappear when you drive up because the fairway ends up sloping at 20 degree angle with rock hard, dry, short grass into a lake, then you will love this course!!! Enjoy out there guys! Just make sure you get paid before going out, because even playing for free wouldn't be worth it.
Great course fun to play
Great course fun to play challenging but fair well kept fun
Challenging
Hit it straight, or you will struggle. Conditions are ok, not great. The course was not crowded (probably because it is priced a bit high), but still took 4.5 hrs due to difficulty, especially on the back nine. Biggest complaint was being charged $20 for 2 beers from the beverage cart. That is greed, and I won’t fall for that again.
Greens Were Poor
The staff was friendly, but the course was in poor shape. The overseed must not have taken very well as there were many areas with dirt and no grass. The greens were especially poor. It was hard to tell where there was grass and where the dirt was simply painted green, causing the speed of the greens to vary significantly from hole to hole. Overall, I won't play the course again until the grass is in better shape.
Painted greens
Greens were rough, painted over. Course should have been better for what they were charging. Hoping they get the course in shape, or lower the rates.
Nice Course
The scenery alone was worth the cost of the round. Thoroughly enjoyed the course
AVOID THIS COURSE
Complete s&^% show. I spoke with management to secure a replay rate as I was booking the tee times for a 7-day golf vacation for 12 guys. When I got there, the golf "manager" AJ refused to speak with me and her staff charged my whole group without a replay rate.
Then they put a 7-some in front of us and the rangers said they had a agreement with management to do so! So they honor some arrangements but not others and their rangers are useless. What is the point of having rangers if you allow a 7-some?!
A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The boys are Wisconsinites too. They would've gladly paid the $75 (with tip) per 6-pack for years to come if we were treated right.
The ground was not in good shape either for a January. Trash course. Trash staff... never again!
az grand
It was a good track, greens were quick and true. There were several holes that had cart restrictions, and you had to bring a few clubs to the ball. They need a bigger practice green area.
Great combo course but groundskeeper is rude
I really enjoyed the layout of this course. Resort golf for the front 9 and desert golf on the back 9. Challenging tee box positions and fast greens. Had an issue with the groundskeeper who would not stop mowing on Hole 7 while we clearly saw we were coming up to the green and there was a group waiting to tee behind us. My husband went ahead and hit and the groundskeeper went right where his ball landed and RAN IT OVER!! What a jerk! Coming back to cart return, we saw the same groundskeeper on Hole 1 also holding up the group trying to tee off and I told the cart staff. The response was "Yeah sometimes they just don't care" um if it is a known issue, then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
