Rough shape before over seeding.
Everything was burnt out before over seeding, the price was right but not worth the time
Early start. Beat the heat
Professionally staffed and run. The only down side was re-seeding in progress affecting a few tee boxes and fairways, but the scenic, challenging course was very enjoyable to play (twice).
Great
I gave a Young man a Dollar for cleaning my clubs. He dropped it on the ground. Oh Well.
Nice course
This course has great potential. My first experience was more than likely unusual. The fairways were very playable but dryer than other courses that I played in the area within the week. They said they were intentionally letting it dry out for maintenance reasons.
Unfortunate pace
We come to Phoenix once a year for a boys week of golf, and the Grand is a staple in our courses to play. We love the variety that the course offers, and the after round amenities. We enjoy it so much here that we always play it twice in our week of golf.
This year we had the unfortunate luck to be behind a foursome that felt it their right to play two balls each off most tees and were not practicing any etiquette when it came to, fixing ball marks on the greens, and they left numerous tee boxes with huge unrepaired divots.
Needless to say their pace of play was excruciating slow, and with the non existent marshall on the course to alleviate this problem, it carried on for the whole round. This made our round of golf extremely long and painfully allowing us no opportunity to get into any kind of rhythm.
After our round I did bring my concerns to the pro shop staff and was told that they don't have a marshall on course as they're able to monitor every foursomes pace of play progress by the GPS on the carts. They also said they did not see anything out of the norm with the pace of play with their group.
Not only did these guys not maintain a good pace of play, they also had three carts for four golfers, were literally defacing the course, blasting very loud music, playing extra balls of most tees, and spending an exorbitant amount of time searching for lost balls. I'm sorry, but these are things your GPS cannot tell you about a group of golfers on your course.
Pay the extra and put Marshalls on the course, and you will have satisfied clientele, as well as less damage on a course that deserves better
The course is beautiful and challenging. Extremely well maintain. So much fun and worth the it. Staff are amazing.
Great course with challenging holes
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Had some of the most challenging hole layouts making you really think about course management. One of the top Arizona courses I have played.
a bit quirky but...
Very well conditioned course that has a few quirky features making first time play a challenge. Numerous holes on the front 9 have blind shots that create the first timer's challenge. The back side is very similar to many of the mountain/desert courses in the valley. A few of the short par 4's, once you have "local knowledge" are well served by "clubbing down".
