Greens
The greens for all 18th holes were the best I played the last few time I play there!
Hot
One of my favorite valley tracks. Very good overall condition for summer.
Worst golf course in the Valley
Made the mistake of booking a tee time at Arizona Grand this morning. I had the feeling it might be in a questionable condition, the condition wasn't bad it was HORRIBLE!! This is the worst-conditioned course I have ever played in Arizona. I probably wouldn't have posted anything, if the staff had cared a little. Went into the pro shop and all I got was "It's not in the best condition". The staff over there couldn't care less that there were unhappy golfers. #neveragain #arizonagrandresort
Great Track in Terrible Condition
Great course layout and definitely a target golf course. The course is in the worst condition I have ever seen it in and I have played it for over 10 years. Tee boxes are ragged, fairways are spotty and dry, greens are extra firm and won't hold shots.
Fun course
First time playing AZ grand this 4th of July weekend. It's a fun, challenging course. Lots of blind shots into dog legs, narrow fairways. Fairways were dry, but I haven't seen anywhere better lately. Greens were decent! Tee boxes are very rough... the 6 some in front of me purposely taking divots in the 18th tee box trying to hit each other with dirt ensures this... bunkers were fluffy in the few I found. Pace of play is a problem. I flew threw the first 5 as a single and then hit the wall... waiting about 10-15 mins per stroke for the rest of the round. Took 4 hours. Group behind me kept hitting shots into me, i wasnt happy. Overall if you catch it on a slow day it's fun. If they're booked up I'd rather make the drive out to Estrella where i havent had any pace of play issues this summer. Driving range included there, wider fairways, similar course, and it's been a few bucks cheaper lately.
At $70 for July rounds, not exactly a deal
Foursome of average to above average players thought the course was plenty challenging, especially the back 9. Overall course conditions were mediocre, but Arizona summer rounds aren’t typically going to be ideal. Pace of play was an issue. Marshall came around towards end of round but by then it was too late. Front 9 and back 9 play very different so it’s a challenge but ongoing landscaping and construction made it tedious, many balls were lost. The mobile drink carts were around every 4 holes or so, so that was nice especially in 115° heat.
Not worth it, director not friendly
All staff minus the director was nice. Played here with my girlfriend as a ride along and rented clubs due to traveling with kids. No driving range. My t time was at 7:30 am and they were already running about 15 min behind. Paid around 200for golf/cart/rentals/and ride along plus another 35 ish for 3 beers. Was at hole 9 around 3 1/2 hours later. Decided to only play 9 and see if I could rain check 9 due to kids waiting in the room. Hole 9 and 10 are no where near the clubhouse. Drove back and asked for rain check and the cart guy said no problem. All the staff was great except for the director of golf. We in to ask for rain check and she said it looks like you played 11holes. After advising that I had to wait to pass people she said she would credit me for $63. I asked if I could play 9 the next day and she said sorry, they only do 18 holes. Asked about club rentals and she said she would make a note for a discount on my next rental. I advised I wouldn’t be able to play 18 and she said sorry then. The course is in bad shape, the rate of play 3.5 hours for 9 holes is ridiculous, and the director’s customer service was terrible. All the other employees were great. Definitely not coming back though.
Good Summer Value for $55 or less.
First time playing here. I would play again for $55 or less. Interesting layouts with elevation changes that you dont normally see on mid priced courses. Not an easy course for being a shorter yardage course - several blind shots and lots of terrain changes with hills, slopes, etc.
Average condition for this time of year in the heat for similarly priced courses at ~$50/rd. The fringe around the greens are all burned out and dead grass/mud, with random patches in the fairway in similar shape. The greens were in pretty good condition though. They run a little slow but true.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
My only real complaint was the pace. A group ahead was clearly falling behind and the ranger was completely content with a 5 hour pace, explaining they would be more than happy if people finished around 5-5.5hrs. Strange.
Decent Course
Course was okay. Nothing great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Front 9 left a lot to be desired (that’s saying it nicely). On top of that the front 9 wasn’t in too great of shape. Back 9 was a 180. Really nice and quite enjoyable. I definitely wouldn’t go back, especially for the summer rate. You get a better value playing in the west valley during the summer. $26 burger was the nail in the coffin, after the round.
Overrated for the price
I know this place is a resort but the course needs to be in a lot better shape. Plus stop jamming the tee times up so you finish in under 5 hours
Could be an amazing course
Enjoyed my round at Arizona Grand yesterday even though it was 111 degrees. The course was in relatively good shape considering it is in transition from winter rye to summer burmuda. There were a couple of holes that are under construction, the second hole is being played as a par 3 rather than par 4 and tee box is in what is normally the fairway. Many of the holes have blind shots which make it especially challenging for a first time player. The greens were soft and held very well. They were also slow but pretty true. The staff was very friendly and the cart service was excellent. The beverage cart was around every 3-4 holes so we could remain hydrated. Overall, it was a good experience that I will play again when temperatures drop.
Horrible Experience
Pace of play was 5 1/2 to 6 hours, marshall said to be patient vs moving the slow groups. After playing 12 holes in 4 hours, I was over it.
Descent course
Not a bad course for only $50
Some greens need improvement
The pace of play really needs to improve
Busy Course
First Tee Time is 5 am, any stays packed from there. Was real nervous about pace of play, but ended up fine and finished in 4:10. First three greens were real chewed up but others were better. Over all afun course as it winds through South Mountain.
