A little above average
I played the course it was a little windy and the pace of play was fairly slow due to the facts they have most of the course roped off with stakes that you can't drive out to your ball and it wasn't even wet! Also I am partially handicapped so it was a huge inconvenience for me, I did ask them to set the cart to handicap which most of the courses have no problem doing but it didn't give me any more access than a regular person, I would say that if you are handicapped in any way and have trouble walking I would pass this course up just because of the ropes and not allowing you to get close to your ball
Dog Water
Poor green conditions. Patchy. Hard surfaces everywhere. Definitely a value pick if you’re in a pinch. They make the first tee box pristine and after that, it’s a circus
Disappointed with greens
Greens were slow. Definitely some work being done to the course. Tee-boxes not in great shape either. Cheaper than most courses right now is probably the only reason worth going back this time of year
Spend time elsewhere
Tee boxes were fine, fairways were fine, greens were in very poor conditions.
Clubhouse host was pretty much unwelcoming
My “Go-To” Course
Solo. Overcast. 6:10 tee time. Got done in 2.5 hrs….
That is why this is my “go-to” course for when I’m feeling the itch to play. The course is technical and challenges many clubs in the bag.
Some of the fairways and greens were patchy and several of the holes had “repair” areas. Combined with no driving range, I think the $115 price was a bit high, but ultimately worth it to play fast.
Staff is always great here!
Worst greens ever
DO NOT PLAY THE ARIZONA GRAND until they fix the fungus on greens issue. I played it about 2 years ago and I loved it! When I played it this week of late March 2025, they have the worst greens I’ve ever been on in past 30 years of golf. They should not be charging full price for the round (I paid $500 for 2 adults and 2 juniors), and feel like I was robbed. I feel sorry to have to post this but all of the incredible staff is aware of the horrible greens but the management is not doing anything about it (like charging a reasonable rate for fungus infested greens).
Terrible condition but good track
A friend picked this course; nether one of us had played it. Overall, the course was in poor condition. The greens were basically short trimmed weed beds (the term "cabbage patch" comes to mind). Most of the fairways had bare spots, and most of the tee boxes resembled a chewed up driving range. We quit after 15 holes and four and half hours. The rangers, while pleasant, told us the pace of play was due to the course being "full". On the plus side, the bunkers were in good condition and the track had very interesting elevation changes and made it kind of fun. This would be a very enjoyable course, but unfortunately due to lack of any noticeable effort to condition it, I can't recommend it to anyone that I would want to remain friends with. There are much better conditioned courses in the area at this price point.
Great course with some rough spots
Always enjoy the Grand. Urban course with desert edges. Located on the edge of the South Mountain complex it provides for some stunning views and challenging golf. Very few water holes but very challenging if you are aggressive. Lay up and play conservatively it will be a wonderful round of typical Phoenix landscape and very enjoyable environment.
Greens right now are not the best. Most of the course is wonderful to play with several brown spots sprinkled in. 18 green is espcially rough around the edges with lots of returfing and ground under repair (although not marked as such). Greens were hard with little turf although they were for the most part green. very bumpy and several times had balls misdirected due to conditions. Some fast some not so fast. Very inconsistent.
Great day overall though for playing and just getting out. Staff was wonderful and wish I could plan a week to stay on site and simply enjoy the amenities and the resort atmosphere.
Never play this course
$100 for a round on a $2 course. The greens were in terrible condition. They have the cheek to charge the price they do. I will never cast a shadow on this course again.
