Great
We had a great day on the Monument course. We played with two young men, pace of play was good and everything about the resort.
A Must Play
Every hole is an amazing view and fun to play but it's not an easy round. Make sure u keep it in the fairway
Golf course
The absolute best scenery I've seen. Great shape. Will defiantly play again
Concerns re poor yardage marking
This is a difficult course which is made moreso by the lack of GPS or clear yardage marking - this is compounded when there is cartpath only regulations.
AWESOME!!! Bring lots of balls, and a camera
Troon Monument is one of the top courses in the country. It is scenic holes one after the next with panoramic vistas and stories to tell on each. If you can afford it, play it. You will not be disappointed.
The greens are lightning fast, the waste areas are unforgiving, and even if you feel the urge to hunt for your ball, beware of the signs reminding you that this is carved out of the mountains and rattlesnakes can be easily found. On our trip, we saw a very small mountain lion stalking rabbits on the back of the 15th green. Very cool!!!
This is simply worth the trip, from anywhere in the country.
Wow! Wow! Wow!
One of the most beautiful golf courses we ever played on! In perfect condition! Precision desert golf where every hole is different and brought a lot of Wows on each tee-off.
Scottsdale Troon
Absolutely beautiful!
Bring some extra balls if you have a double digit handicap.
review monument
Excellent. Course in hreat shape. Cart path only. Only negative but understandsble.
Beautiful golf afternoon
The only negative was the seasonal cart path only requirement that comes with the territory during overseeding time. The Course was in beautiful shape and the scenery and desert vistas were fantastic. Played a twilight rate and finished with a beautiful sunset. Memorable day.
Great Course
Our group really enjoyed playing the Monument course. Would have been excellent if it wasn't cart path only but we did know that beforehand.
All around spectacular...MUST play
I was looking forward to playing one of the top 100 courses in America, and though we didn't get to play the championship course (Pinnacle), the Monuments course did not disappoint. Absolutely gorgeous surroundings, with quail, roadrunners, and lizards running everywhere. Incredible scenery from almost every teebox, and ideal conditions. Smooth manicured fairways, quick, but receptive greens, and fair but from time to time challenging layout. Worth the drive, and every penny. Can't wait to go back and attack the Pinnacle! Bring your camera!
Wonderful golf experience
Loved the course , facility, food, and staff. Thanks troon north for the memories.
disappointed
course had been over seeded…..cart paths only…no putting green access or driving range. all of staff promoted the prime rib buffet which we returned for at 5:30 pm only to be told they were "sold out". restaurant was not even half full.
great time.
I have played troon before. Conditions were not as good this time. Still at top 5 in my book.
Picturesque gem that demands attention from the tee
Troon North Pinnacle is an excellent test of golf at virtually any time of the season. I played late in the summer (Sept 29th) when the course was almost at the turning point to get ready for the winter season (needing overseeding). However, the fairways were in excellent condition and the green ran true and smooth.
The Pinnacle course demands attention, particularly on the tee shots, since each hole is individually carved out of the desert with harsh conditions awaiting any ball that strays more than a few feet past rough. The landing areas can be generous but you should play from a set of tees that match your handicap. That will give you the best chance to keep your ball in play and hit your approach shot from a distance that allows you to hit the greens at least half the time.
I have a 8 handicap and played from the tips (Black) and found it to be very challenging on a couple of the long par 4's (#3 and #7) to get my ball in the "attack" zone. The same comment applies to the par 5's -- if you choose an appropriate set of tees then you will have a chance to "go for it". Otherwise you will be forced to layup due to the protection of the greens with some unseen hazzards.
The greens were large and medium-firm, allowing me to hit long approach shots with confidence that the ball would stay on the green. A few of the greens had "false fronts" or sections where even well struck balls would roll off the green -(#17 front right) - something I liked because it made you think about each approach shot rather than just wacking away mindlessly.
Pinnacle is a course that almost demands a "do-over". Your first round will introduce you to the course and give you a sense of where/where not to hit the ball. A second round will allow you to plan your attack better and really see how good your game is.
I thoroughly enjoyed my round at Troon North and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a premium golf experience in North Scottsdale.
High Price for Scenic Views
I stumbled across this killer deal by accident on Golfnow to play Troon North for $21. Regular fee was listed at $125. The views of the mountains and valley from the Tees and Greens was breathtaking. The course layout is very tough, target golf required. The conditions were good, but I must be honest in saying that the fairways and greens were a bit beat up. Lots of brown in the fairways and not cut consistently, while the greens were soft holding shots and fast for putting they were extremely blemished by ball marks many not being fixed. Overall, it's a wonderful course and a challenge to play and I truly enjoyed my round, shot 76, but the $$ value for what's charged doesn't equate. I assume the lure of the Name and the Scenic views is what your paying for.
Great course!
Great course! The greens were excellent. Firm fairways and the rough was not too high. Great bargain for $35 golf now hot rate!
One of AZ's Greats!
Before coming to AZ for a golf tournament I had heard that Troon North was a must play course.
Playing both courses pinnacle and monument, I wasn't disappointed. The courses were really great examples of what "desert golf" is all about.
The greens had some spots on it due to guys not repairing ball marks but overall these courses were worth playing again several times over. Being able to play the courses in the off season for $40 was an absolute steal considering how much the greens fees are during peak season.
My only gripe was the tee box on the par 5 11th at the monument course. There was a huge 30 foot boulder directly in front of the right side of the tee box and made the hole a little unfair to me.
Pinnacle, great deal
Great course, that I had heard about and it lived up to all the expectations. Played silver in a twosome so it played slow as we had to wait on the two groups ahead. I would recommend playing silver for the first time if handicap is greater than 10.
Not a long course, it is a target style course that makes you have to think about your shots. It was enjoyable to experience Troon service first hand, should be on your Phoenix list of places to play.
Primo layout
Top notch!
Special ocassion destination unless you're loaded.
Used my 75 bookings reward from golfnow to book a twosome -$200 Hot Deal.
Tough, but there are landing areas. Played here before an played better than this time. My fault.
Summer $130
High Season $250
Look for deal.
Be ready.
