Hotel with history behind it!! Photo submitted by Shypoke55 on 04/22/2019
Needs more time before ready
We had a nice time here this am. Practice facilities still aren’t open and the course needs a bit more mowing after just being opened following the summer. Given another two week or so, this place will be great to play. Today, greens were sickeningly slow and 2nd cut areas and fairways were too long. Understandable given they just opened back up.
Nice
It’s recovering from the new seeds and everything is green, grass was high in fairways but it was fun... in a few more days when ia time to cut it even is going to be aweso
Worst conditions ever
Well. Where do I start. First from the very first hole tee times backed up. No Marshall on course to speed play up. Waited every shot. 5 hour round. Course in horrible shape. Fairways 2 inch thick grass. Can’t find your ball in second cut. Must be in fairway or you spend 10 min looking for ball. Greens are slow as ever. Needs a lot of help. Course is waterlogged so with that comes mosquitos. Everywhere. Had bug spray and still eaten alive. Staff was friendly. The only good thing about today. Will not be back.
The course demands good shots to score well.
The par 3s play longer then expected. If you dial in 1 club extra; you will be pleased. I always enjoy playing this course.
Good shape
Not crowded. Moving forward at a good pace. Great bargain.
Great course to play
Love playing such a great course so close to home. Great pace of play, friendly staff.
The one bad thing is I wish they had a place to buy snacks and drinks during play. They have a vending machine but it does not always work.
Friendly staff
Friendly staff, course is well maintained and pace of play was excellent.
Relaxing weekend getaway
Fun Hotel with History, we stayed and played and will definitely go back again!! Course was ok nothing special but the people who worked throughout the complex were amazing great smiles friendly as you could ever ask for funny and fun also!! The food in there longe and restaurant were absolutely amazing the presentation was incredible and the food was delicious!! We recommend this place for a weekend getaway we had an absolute blast!!
Greens are dying, irrigation still a problem
We used to have a membership here. Last year the course shut down from May 1 to Octobet 8th.
Nothing was done to the course all summer. This course was built in 1962! The irrigation system is failing. We didn't feel the course owner cares enough to fix the problems.
It shows on several holes that get overwatered. Some of the greens have bald patches that will get worse when the course shuts down June 1st this year.
It's okay for the occasional round, but I won't waste my money on a membership. It's sad to see this as I used to really enjoy playing here.
Just OK
I expected more out of a resort course. Layout was OK, there were some interesting holes. I got away with a lot of bad shots, because there are acres of rough. Staff was really good. The bar is great and there is a lot of history documented in the photos on the walls.
just OK
Very forgiving, lots of rough and little OB areas. I got away with a lot of bad shots. Course is in decent shape. Some interesting holes but layout is nothing to write home about. I was expecting more from a resort course. Overpriced for sure, this should be a ~$25 round but I played double that.
Great spring golf
This is a challenging course. The courses at excellent condition and we must have timed it right because everything had been freshly mowed before our round. There were a few hot spots but that is to be expected with the heat. I will definitely be back to play again.
Improved Conditions
Played here many times in the last decade. Fairways although not perfect were improved . Greens were perfect other than 17 which has some dead area on front of gree. Teed off at 8 and done at 11. Impressive.
Challenging Long course
Course and greens on great shape. Pace of play was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Good value for the money. We just keep coming back!!
Francisco G
Course and greens were in good shape. To much water in a couple of places but was not a bother.
Greens rolled good. Traps had lots of sand which was nice.
Pretty dry
The fairways were pretty dry an hard. Tee boxes very dry hard to put tee in the ground. Greens were pretty good. Our round was very slow, waiting on every hole.
