Orange Tree doesn't disappoint
Golfed here several times and it's been positive each time. Over-seeding and rain created some issues but overall it was a good experience again.
So…..Not Worth the Money
Almost $100 to play this flat simple course.
Conditions were not near good enough to charge this much.
Never again
Bunker's & Tee Boxes Continue to Disappoint
Having played the course for 8 or 9 years, out of frustration, I finally wrote to the “owner” of Orange Tree about a year, year and half ago noting that the Bunker's & Tee Boxes were or should be an embarrassment, especially since Orange Tree bills itself as a “golf resort.” The bunkers were consistently hard as rocks because they had little to NO sand and finding a “level” spot on a tee boxes also was frustrating.
I played Oct. 11, 2022. Although there is an apparent “attempt” to redo the bunkers (deep digging), except for a few, most of the bunkers are being redone with, at best, crappy “sand/dirt.” Even the other average courses in the Phoenix valley have far better bunkers. The material being used get watered daily, which compacts quickly packs them rock hard. Not only is this frustrating to a player, it also often results in chunky shots or skulls across the greens. Based my previous experience here, the bunkers also do not get at least a weekly deep rake by the maintenance staff, which at least would help to a degree.
Unfortunately, while there is some restoration/updating being on the course, this does not seem to apply to tee boxes. A reasonable “level” area to tee from should be undertaken, especially since this is a course for average golfers. Additionally, there are "dead" areas on some tee boxes that should be dug up and replaced with sod.
Finally, the overall Orange Tree facility continues to come across as a tired relic of the 1950s.
A little polish needed
Play there yesterday… I think they just reopened after over seating it was carpet hallway which they didn’t disclose when I made the reservation. A pushcart was a better option than running a cart… Fairways in good shape greens very slow and cut inconsistently.. At 1:15 on the first hole the beverage cart approached us and said she was leaving and if we wanted anything to drink we could get it at the snack shack at the turn.. When we got to return the snack shack was closed We then went to the clubhouse where it took 15 minutes to get service
Cart path only with no consideration for scheduling or cost. Wedding party on the 18th fairway.
Uninterested staff
A nothing much course. Uninteresting but cheaper than most. Ok to use as a practice ground as wide open but not challenging. Course condition ok apart from greens and around the hole was very poor.
Staff completely uninterested. No one at bag drop or even at entry area. Shop staff couldn’t even bothered to say hi.
Will use as practice but not a good experience
Nice course in Scottsdale
The greens had some trouble spots, but overall the course was in good condition. Had a nice round of golf, cart girls were friendly and attentive, and price was right. Good time.
Westbrook Village - definite play
I played Westbrook village for the first time and loved it. The staff is friendly, the course lay out is very good and greens were rolling true to it speed. Amazingly, we finished our round in just over 4 hours. Fairways and tee boxes were in great condition. We enjoyed our round. The only negative I experienced was lack of drinks and food not available on the course while playing. We were told that no drink lady on the course. It was also surprising that water fountain as well as ice machines but no glasses available. We also visited the restaurant after our round and enjoyed food and beverage. Service was excellent. We definitely play again.
Worst driving range in the valley - 1/2 grass, 1/2 not-very-well-compacted sand - just like it’s always been. Good luck sharpening your iron or wedge game on this poor excuse for a driving range. Practice greens are okay, but unfortunately they are better than the greens on the actual course, which is actually unusual for Orange Tree. Whoever is cutting the cups out there in the morning is definitely giving minimum effort. The golf course will be closing soon, so they are trying to jam as many players on the tee-sheet as possible right now. Have patience because you’ll be waiting on every single shot until about 2pm. Try to have fun. I hear alcohol helps
Great value for this course
Always enjoy the Orange Tree course and has its challenges...but a good test of anyone's game...look forward to the changes/updates they are working on..all the bunkers are being worked on..great service from the staff and very friendly...lunch was perfect on the patio...
Course was in great shape! Paranoid staff regarding pace of play, but for the most part we’re respectful. Very fun course 10/10 recommend.
Great day of golf
Course was in great condition with the deception of the traps. Big yikes. Gained a few strokes trying to play them before I decided to just drop out of them. Other than that, I’d say go. You’ll have fun.
A tired old course
First time playing this track, and you could tell that at one time this must have been a nice course and a very nice golf resort. Sadly, not anymore. We played it in early September and it was in rough shape. It’s also a very tight course, where holes are packed closely together so you need to be wary of stray shots from other holes in some cases.
