Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Great views!
The course and scenery were great! Was told the greens are fast. Great, I like fast greens. But they’re fast because they are still new. Very thin grass. Felt more like pressed dirt in spots
Bunkers and greens are not good
Bunkers had lots of standing water (so did course so sprinklers are not synched very well) and no sand just mud. We played Pine and greens on front slower than molasses and back started with them quicker but last three holes were slow even downhill
Not up to scratch
The course conditions were horrible. The sand traps were completely full of water. We have taken the golf course our future list of golf courses to play.
Mudball Ranch
They're over-watering the course, trying to shock the turf back to life. As a result, balls picked up mud in fairways every time. Bunkers were filled with water! Great land, shabby course. Needs to be totally refurbished.
Just okay
We play frequently at McCormick Ranch and we are always tentative about playing there. After our round yesterday on the Palm Course I don't think we will be back...unless there are no other reasonable alternatives.
low cost golf
Low cost for Scottsdale but still high for most people. Worth a visit but not exceptional.
Not in my wheelhouse
Rye grass was non-existent but the real issue was NO SAND in the bunkers …
Nice Course but then it turned in to Clown Town.
The course and conditions were great. It could use more shade in areas where you typically park carts. Course from whites was on the short side, lots of Par 4's in the 350-370 range, which means Driver and partial wedge, very rarely did I have a full iron in.
I played as a single and was 'paired' with a 10 person Bachelor party group. They were split into foursomes but I was the random they stuck in the group. I wanted to play golf, not join a circus.
DON"T PAIR UP SINGLES WITH A BACHELOR PARTY!!!!
Good course
Pace was good, turf conditions were as expected for late spring overseed. Transitioning to summer turf with low temperatures is always challenging. Should be real good by late May. Staff is always professional and personable.
Fun Course
Bunkers are ponds of water but the grass isn’t dead. Overall not as bad as the other reviews make it out to be. Great track, really good conditions, and staff was way better than most other courses. I will be back.
Overpriced , Over watered
Don't play this course if you are on a golf trip from out of state , if it's your local public municipal you should pay 53 $ max , needs a ton of work , cart paths have pot holes, fairways and bunkers have standing water , greens are as hard as a pool table and the cart girls are driving in a dilapidated work vehicle, I have never seen a bev cart in this bad of shape , my next trip back to AZ if it was for free , I still would never play here again
