Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Signage on course terrible.
Never been here and hard to follow course. No signage except on ball washers…on back 9 sign pointed across street for next hole and when we crossed street and asked where to go we were yelled at (should have ranger there to direct golfers…staff unfriendly …seemed to be bothering them. For price course was muddy, not very challenging, and water on course (water fountains) was warm…had planned to purchase some apparel but after experience on course…did not purchase
SLOW
2 hours 45 minutes through front nine. So hot I quit after nine. Prices are crazy and play is slow across the valley. All out for as much money as they can get. Fortunately played with great guys.
Underwhelming
Course wasn’t in very good shape. Greens were ok though which is probably the most important part. All the sand traps were full of water, hasn’t been rain for a while so assuming over watering. Lots of very wet spots. We were golfing mid day so shouldn’t have been soaked. Staff wasn’t overly friendly. Paid the same for this course as we did for TPC Champions course. They are not even close to the same level. Ok if you don’t have high expectations.
It been better
Played here a lot in the past. It’s an OK layout. Expensive for the condition. We got to play the front nine on both the palm and the pine and the greens on the palm were incredibly hard and crazy fast. And the pine’s greens were much more receptive and softer.
No one at the bag drop so unloaded clubs myself and put in the club rack. Getting back to the clubs the guys says need help. Yeah those are my clubs need a car. No help beyond that with range balls, nothing. Very unfriendly and unhelpful.
The girl at the snack shack could put a smile on her face. I was charged a spectator cart fee for my wife’s cart which I understand, but I was riding with her and the GPS didn’t work.
I’ve played a few courses and the Pine course was overpriced.
Very dry. It may not be the fault of the course, but it needed a lot more water!
Palm Course
Not sure what’s going on with the course this year, but it was a terrible condition. Lotta dead spots lotta standing water. Just everything was bad except the greens were really good.
Not impressed
Slow play - poor quality sand in bunkers - dirty golf carts - patchy fairways - poor condition cart paths - very noisy tournament on the adjacent Palm course. MR courses could be so much better as it is an ideal location in central Scottsdale which is a more upscale area.
Course is below average of courses in the area and price range.
McCormick Ranch Palm
Front 9 was fine. Back nine was in very rough shape.
