Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Mediocre at best
They made us play the back nine of pine and back nine of Palm.. both not in very good shape.. very wet muddy.. bunkers hard as rock
Go somewhere else
Too crowded. Allowed too many golfers and the pace of play was terrible. Other than that it was ok.
Nice shape and good staffing
Likes the course, greens are a challenge. Staff very helpful and everything ran on time. Would play again.
Rough around the edges
And in the centre too….. the reviews in this case were spot on. Not sure if the WM qualifier is here again. If so that’s sad
Poor Conditions
Sand Traps are in horrible shape, most have no sand and the rest is dried dirt. Overall the fairways are in poor condition.
Fair Course & Good Views
This course was pretty fair. Although located in Scottsdale, I felt the conditions of the course could’ve been a bit better. I noticed the grass was painted in a few areas which is fine in my opinion but others can disagree. Greens were inconsistent, some being very fast and others very slow. Each hole has good challenges and I liked the long par 3s. Overall good experience and staff were super friendly!
Fairways were not in good shape
The Fairways were not in good shape. It seemed there were a lot of areas which had been over watered, and there were puddles and muddy areas on most of the fairways. I understand that the first nine holes of the line and palm courses had been renovated. The back nine of both the courses, which we played, need work also.
Worth the price
Played back 9 of each course Hole 15 on the back pines is amazing Course had some ground under repair but for 80.00 good Scottsdale course
Dead grass, sand bunkers are mud, potholes on cartpath, puddles of water everywhere. Worst course I’ve ever played.
Not in prime condition
For the last few months play has been broken up between the two course. This time it was listed as 18 for each course, so we thought we could finally play 18 on the Palm course. Arrived and was told we would be playing the two back nines. Pine has not been in good shape over the past few months, so was a bit upset having to play this again. Bunkers are the worst, so don’t hit in them. Several had standing water, hard and inconsistent. Lots of patches with sod and tire tracks from equipment. We may try to play this again in 6 months to see if they have addressed the issues, but for now there are better courses for the money.
Enjoyed my 1st round
Nice layout. Course fairways had just been done a year ago so fairway grass still a little thin. Was happy to play with Jim and Tim who helped me navigate the course and were very enjoyable to play with. Greens very fast but in great condition. A great experience even though it had been a few months since I had played. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Thanks

Nice Course, Unfair at Times
I really wanted to give this course a higher grade, as I was paired with decent people, and they allowed me to tee off early. Course conditions were good to great. My gripe was the course was that it played unfair in spots, as several times I hit the green, only to find my ball trickling down a sloped area into a water hazard. Maybe if I played it again I could minimize this, but something like this in my opinion seems unfair and leads to slow play.
badshape
this course was in really bad shape for the price and the location i had expected more for McCormick ranch
Issues
Fairways in nice shape. Greens OK. Scattered bate spots. Bunkers—- inconsistent. Some a real need of sand. Cart paths look like they have been carpet bombed. I’d say worth about 50 bucks considering time of year. Could be much better.
Perfect except for too much watering day of play which resulted in mud on many shots.
so brown
not worth the money right now. looks like someone drove their truck through the course. only got to play the back 9 of both courses so missed out on the nice side of the property. very dry, paid too much
