Palm Course - McCormick Ranch Photo submitted by tainge on 03/29/2013
Extremely slow pace of play
I have played this course twice and both times the pace of play was brutal. As soon as we turn the corner to the back 9, play comes to a screeching halt. We saw a course marshal one time early in the round. It almost seemed that after 1 pm, the course workers left. No starter, no water and no marshal. Beverage carts did make the rounds several times throughout the course.
On the positive side, the course is in great shape and the clubhouse is well stocked. We appreciated the driving range and chipping/putting areas.
$90 a round for an early afternoon tee time- not sure I will be back anytime soon. 5 hours on the course seemed a little much.
Great courses
Challenging greens but a wide open layout in case you spray it you can get right back and play on your next shot
Where does the $ go?
Played here many times for the ease (5 minutes from my house) and the views. But maintenance seems to be worse each time I go: cart-paths full of potholes, standing water, greens hard as rock, etc. Rounds are significantly more expensive than other public courses nearby. What gives??
Would return to play
There was some rain in the morning, which was great for us because we were able to play just the two of us. We enjoyed the layout of the course, except for hole 15, which we found to be really challenging. Although the grass really is in dire need of water, it was fun. I can tell that this course has seen better days and in those days, it would be beautiful. Staff were really friendly.
Disappointed
Used to play these courses alot. Both were in much better shape at half the price. Now even the greens are challenging due to so many divots.
Very Poor Course Conditions
Course was extremely wet, flooded I. Some areas, greens weren’t smooth they were bulky with some type of artificial grass. We were all extremely disappointed given the conditions to cost.
Average Course
Played on a Saturday and although they have two courses, they are not up to other courses you could get at the same price. Fairways were in decent condition, but greens are full of ball marks, and not consistent. If you have the choice, there are others in the area that are better.
Marginal experience
The back nine was in shoddy condition. At the turn they had no food available for purchase and couldn’t tell us when the food would arrive and pace of play was over 4.5 hours with not a marshal in site to encourage faster play. All in all a mediocre golf experience
