About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. Ventana Canyon - mountain course
Very good challenging golf course. Very good condition. Members alternate with greens fee paying players to play different courses each day, then swap courses the next day. Greens fee payers start at Loews Resort and have to travel in golf cart about 1/2 mile to first tees of the two courses. There are very few amenities at the first tee location and the turns. Two bathrooms, a range and a very small snack bar are there along with a starter. We saw the beverage cart only once during the 18 holes. So I would say great golf course but somewhat lacking on-course amenities.
Great course but confusing to find
Played the mountain course and thought it was a great track, interesting shots and necessary to hit solid shots to score. The greens were hard and fast and very tricky with the mountain/valley effect in full swing. The pace of play was slow, took almost 5 hours to play and waiting nearly every shot but a great day and pairing and enjoyed it. Would recommend it for sure

Excellent desert course
Fine staff, course in excellent condition.
Long rides between some holes helps to have someone who knows the course.
Blind shots and lots of opportunities to lose balls. Be patient, you won’t score well the first time.
Bring your camera.

Greens suffered with snow fall
This is our 4th time at Ventana Mountain.
Great layout.
Greens died with the snow over the last weekend.
They looked black vs green.
Greens did NOT hold a ball at all.
Ridiculous fast.
Puts rolled off the green on some holes.
As great as the starter was with information,
he did not prepare us at all for the speed of the greens.
Beautiful day. Very frustrating.

Great course
Everything was great except for the guy who check is in the Am. He was very unwelcoming and not very pleasant.

Mountain Course aptly named!
Fun course, but hilly. Many elevated tee boxes with awesome views, some with awesome hills to climb to get to the tee box! The mountain has a huge effect on putts! The starter will warn you and it doesn't take long to become a believer!

There was no one around when I finished my round. I Didn'tknow where to leave my cart and I didn't know how to get to my car. I was surprised.
