About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. Very nice course
The course was very nice. Staff was friendly. Very spread out.
Spectacular views, challenging greens groomed to perfection
One of the best maintained courses I have ever played. Overseeded fairways, tee boxes and rough were in excellent condition. The greens was super quick and the sand traps were filled with plenty of sand. The sand traps were raked to perfection. The mountain views were beautiful.
Best Course In Tucson, By Far!
We played an amazing round at the Mountain Course. So many holes that are stunningly picturesque, #1, #3, #4.... There is not a bad hole on this course, and the maintenance of the greens, tee boxes, and fairways are always impeccable. The bunkers are inconsistent in their sand content and some are powdery and some need more sand, but that is niggling with what is Arizona's crown jewel for golf courses. Truly the best experience for golf in Tucson! The greens are amazing!
Superb Desert Golf
I played both Ventana courses, and both exceeded my expectations. Canyon, like the Mountain course, was in exceptional condition.
The Canyon fairways were like green carpets. The greens were like billiard tables - smooth and fast. The frost delay was handled very smoothly and professionally. The scenery was unequaled. I liked the layout - landing areas were sufficiently generous that a mid-handicap golfer like myself was not too intimidated. The approach shots were key. Leaving the ball beliw the hole enabled par and a chance at birdie. Leave the ball above the hole, far away from the hole, on the fringe, or even pin high more than a few yards away, and the golfer will be challenged.
Scenic, excellent condition, great value
I was very impressed with the course. Conditioning was excellent. Greens were perfect and everyone agreed - very fast. It’s not overly penal for a desert course. Lots of tee color choices for various skill levels.
good round, bad carts
Ventana Mountain (and Canyon) are my favorite courses in Tucson. The course, as usual, did not disappoint. However, our cart (and you have to take a cart, too difficult to walk these courses) died not once but twice. While the response was pretty prompt, that should not happen. It takes away from an otherwise enjoyable day.
Well worth the time!
The Canyon at Ventana was a beautiful experience in Tucson. The back drops of the mountain when driving from the tee box is absolutely gorgeous. Friendly, helpful staff. I highly recommend playing the par 3s from the tips for the view alone.
Thank you for the 4-star review of Ventana Canyon. Please come back and visit us again soon.
Not happy
We were put behind a company scramble. Play was terribly slow. We played 16 holes in 5.5 hours. I felt we were totally ripped off. Won't go back. I had gone there 3 years in a row for my birthday weekend. Will be looking for something else next year.
We would like to apologize for the experience while you were here for your Birthday Weekend. We never want any of our guests to have a sub par experience especially on their birthday weekend.
Pretty good
If you haven't been before, allow extra time to find the course, then to find the proshop (It's tucked away behind the main building with little signage) then to take the long cart ride to first tee. The guy in the proshop was a little testy. It took 10+ minutes for someone to retrieve my bag from bag drop. Cart path only because of reseeding made for a lot of walking and a slow (5 hour) round. The pin placements were borderline punitive. The course has some dramatic holes, pretty generous driving areas on fairways, good traps well maintained, interesting greens, if somewhat oversized, grass was flawless all over the course.
My luck when traveling of being paired up with fun people ran out, but can't blame the course for that.
Thank you so much for the 4-star review of Ventana Canyon. We are very sorry to hear the pace of play was slow while you were here with us. Please come back and visit us again soon.
Slow Play
Unfortunately the play was 5 1/2 hours +. The course was aware that there were groups that were causing the problem, but clearly nothing was done to alleviate the problem. I tied off at 1:10, and finished in near complete darkenss. The course is in very good condition, and the views are stunning!
Canyon Course @ Ventana Canyon, Tucson, AZ
Course was in great shape, altho cart path only due to recent o'seeding. Greens are large w/Undulations and very fast. Nice layout and worth the money.
Beautiful Day
Other than the proshop person seemingly having a bad morning and the little help of starter as to directions of course, we loved the course and would love to play it again. The Canyon course just opened after seeding and the greens were a little rough, but the fairways and rough were very green and in great shape!
Ventana Canyons
Golf course was amazing. My only problem was with Golfnow. Golfnow should have said that because of overseeding, carts were restricted to the cart paths. Being handicapped, it made the round very difficult
Amazingly beautiful course tucked beneath the Catalina mountains
Played Ventana many times while visiting our son at U of A. Never get tired of the beauty. The course is in great shape. The staff couldn’t be nicer. The greens, while some are a little goofy are in great shape. Really a treat.
Thank you for the 4-star review of Ventana Canyon, we are thrilled to hear you are on of our favorite courses in Tuscon! Please come back and visit us again soon
