About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. Pleasant
The staff was pleasant and helpful. Course was tough!
Hot, humid, soft and long. Welcome to Tucson in the monsoon. I'll be back.
Great layout and fun course.
Played both Mountain and Canyon.
Greens were in good shape, rolled true and were fast. Fairways in excellent condition.
Do not stray to far off line when playing the Mountain course as you will be penalized.
Service was very good and the practice area was great.
Will definately play again if in the area.

My he course itself is beautiful, but greens were in bad shape
In retrospect I wonder if that is why it was such a good deal, because it looks like they had redone all the greens and they were not smooth at all! There were ridges all over the playing surface and you couldn't keep the ball on any sort of plane to save your life. Fairways were in good shape though. There was also no beverage cart at all, not once did we pass one all day. Our cart also started to quit on us after hole 15 and we jerked our way through18 as there was no way to communicate with the clubhouse. It did finally die before we made it back and another single behind us gave one of us a ride back, so we could get another cart to bring our clubs back, as it is far and uphill. Overall not what I'd have expected from one of the premier locations in Tucson.
High Desert Golf
Excellent course in the high Sonoran Desert. Greens a little dried out but it's Arizona in the summer. Great experience.
Great golf holes
I played the Canyon course so this is strictly a review on it. The golf holes are very very good. Condition is fantastic, bunkers are very easy to play out of, greens were pure. The lodge is amazing and has everything you'd need in the golf shop. Staff is very good and willing to help out in anyway you need as well.
Only knock on it is the distance between tees. Some require a map.... If he holes were closer together it would be a 5 star course!
Great Adventure at Ventana Canyon
This was a real challenge. It was hard to play golf due to the wonderful vistas you encounter. Holes were interesting and you needed to use every club in your bag. Only complaint I had was the greens were tough to chip to and to putt on due to aeration of the greens. Quite the experience. Will come back,
Course under repair
A lot of ground under repair on the Canyon Course, haven't seen that much in the past.
Fun course - but challenging
Fun course. Will play again. Good value for the cost.
In great condition
For the middle of summer this course is in great condition. The greens had been punched and sliced 3 weeks before and were healed well. Greens were very smooth and medium fast. Not much roll due to the amount of water put on the fairways.
Tough to find and Staff was mediocre
The course was very good. Great views, well groomed, fast greens. The course is challenging so bring plenty of balls. I played the Mountain course, did not know there were two courses. The staff we mediocre to average and not really helpful.
Finding the course was a little difficult, had no idea it was practically onthe outskits of Tucson, it took a while form I-10 to get there.
I would recommend the course as a challenge if someone wanted that but in genreal the value for the dollar just isn't there.
Ventana Canyon mountain
GREAT GREENS very fast and true. You could not ask for a better place to play in Tucson.Make sure u have your camera ready for #3.
Ventana Mountain Course
The Mountain course continues to be one of my favorites. The layout is challenging and conditions are really good, particularly the greens. The maintenance folks are very proactive in repairing some of the over-seeding damage, including completely revamping a couple of tee boxes. The Staff overall are very helpful. Ventana's stay and play option makes any trip a pleasant experience.
Great resort style course, with all amenities.
Great course design that meanders along the side of the Catalina Mountains, which adds difficulty to putting.
Played Wrong Course on Front Nine
My GolfNow confirmation was for the Canyon course and the other player I was matched with in twosome also had confirmation for the Canyon course. The starter wasn't available to tell us we should be playing the Mountain course so we played the front nine on the Canyon course. At the turn the starter told us to play the Mountain course on the back 9 because only members were allowed on the Canyon course that day. When we arrived at the 10th tee of the Mountain course there was a foursome teeing off and a threesome waiting to tee off. When we explained to the threesome what had happened they invited us to join them in a group of five and we accepted. Unfortunately this affected our pace of play and it took almost 3 hours to play the back 9. It was in good condition but had been recently aerated so the greens were a little bumpy in places. In any event, the course remains one of my favorites and I would enthusiastically recommend it to players of all levels.
The Maze
The course was in average condition but the greens were in great condition. Our main problem was going from hole to hole. It was like a maze and we acturally played one hole over again because of the set up and the lack of signs. They really need to install GPS for people wh have nt played this course. We had played the Mountain course there the day before and it was at least a star better in all areas. If we played again we would play the Mountain rather than the Canyon.
Nice Desert Course
The front nine is the place to score, as it is fairly open. The back nine tightens the fairways up, making controlled shots a must. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Would play it again.
Great shape right now.
Mountain course is in stellar shape all around. Tee boxes coming back from being punched but otherwise perfect conditions.
Gorgeous, challenging course
The $49 Golf Now green fee brought Ventana Canyon back to my budget and it was a pleasure to play a course this nice. The greens were firm, very fast, probably 11+ on the stimp which made them difficult to hold but very smooth to putt.
From the moment you arrive you know you are at a first class facility. The staff and amenities were great though the lack of a GPS in their carts was a surprise. I'd played here once before several years ago so was somewhat familiar with the course. Local knowledge helps a lot as there are a lot of blind shots and the greens are rarely flat which is difficult to see from the fairways.
Being June in Tucson the weather could have been a problem but got lucky and had a nice cool day (in the 80's), and managed 18 in just 3.5 hours with only a little bit of waiting on the last few holes. I'll be back.
nice resort course
I first played here 25 years ago and it has held up very well. Great views, nice layout although signage was a little lacking. Beautiful facilities. I highly recommend playing here.
