A "must" when in town
Excellant condition with sneaky fast greens. Couldn't believe the value for this course. When in Tucson, a must!
Ventana canyon
We played the canyon course and it is a very well maintained course and has excellent views of Tucson and the Catalina mountains the only improvement I could see would be to shorten the grass in the rough just a little or maybe I should just play in the center of the fairway. Overall this is one of my favorites in Tucson!
Love the course.
The course is in great shape. The staff are rude. Not just Brian the manager but the range timekeeper and course ranger all acted like the non members were a bother. I talked to the foursome behind us who had similar experiences. We were sent off shotgun because of frost delay and then asked twice if we had payed for a replay when we made the turn to finish the holes we missed. I dont know what has happened to the people who work here, but the course is great!
Beautiful course!
We went to Tucson for a week to play golf and this was our last course. I wish we had played it sooner, and played both.
It's a little awkward finding the place-it's as though golf was a second thought for the Loewe's resort. Once we found where we were going, everything was smooth and people very friendly. The range is some distance from the pro shop at the hotel, but once you get on the course and realize how big this property is, it becomes much more logical.
Great starter, and we were paired with a scratch and a +20 player who were both great companions.
The course is stunningly beautiful, and challenging to all levels. They have multiple tees, and combo settings that work well. Ask the starter where to play, and eliminate any tendency to exaggerate your skill. You can use all the help you can get.
My one comment is that these are some of the toughest greens to figure out I've ever seen. They are fast, and have a definite grain or break tendency. We spent the whole round trying to figure it out, and none of us ever got comfortable.
The cart girl was present for our first nine holes, then we never saw her again. You do not circle back past the snack shack at the turn, so that was a bit annoying.
All in all-a great place to play. Although we didn't try every place in Tucson, this must be one of the very best.
Very nice facility
First time playing this course. Very well conditioned, welcoming staff, enjoyable holes with good scenery.
Word to the first timers, plan for some extra time before your round. The course is not part of the resort.
Non-member check- in is in a small pro shop in the corner of the spa/fitness building just past the main door to the hotel. The signage isn't very good at telling you where to go. Once checked in it is a several minute cart ride to the range and first tee. Plus allow a few minutes if you want to check out the members pro shop.Much larger and nicer. Our pace of play was about 4:20 for four. You can't shave much off of that because several holes have considerable driving distances from green to tee. Course is fair with generous landing areas, greens were very fast.
Ventana Canyon continues to delight!
We played the Canyon Course. It was in excellent condition as usual, with moderately fast greens and manicured fairways. Having played nearly all of the Tucson courses open to the public, I would have to say that Ventana Canyon is tops! We played as a twosome, paired with a single, and we never had to wait on a tee for the group in front. Pace of play was excellent. All of the staff were courteous, helpful and enthusiastic, making us feel like we were really appreciated. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to experience a top quality course in excellent condition!
What a view
We really enjoyed this course. Most of the time felt like we were the only people on the course. Every hole is different. Would love to play again
Excellent golf course and facilities
Excellent golf course, practice range, putting green and a very friendly staff. The facilities along with super weather made for a great day of golf in Tucson.
Spectactular views and plenty of wildlife
We Played the course before an expected heavy rain fall so it was cloudy and cool not typical for AZ.
We were the only twosome on course, along with a family of bobcats and more variety of birds then I've seen in a long time. There are many interesting holes designed in the hills , finding tee boxes and climbing slippery steeps can present a challenge. Like most resort courses this is very well kept. Hard to find a bad lie and greens rolled true.
It's hard to find clubhouse from parking lot because it's down below restaurant & spa.
Beers are $6 each 6 for $30.
We did get soaked by automatic sprinklers twice which prompted a call to pro shop and put a "damping" on an otherwise perfect day.
Fun and friendly course
This was my first time at this course and it is now one of my favorite. The staff was great and very friendly. The course was perfect and laid out very well. The long cart drives was actually pretty fun and the views were great.
Ventana Canyon
Would not play it again with cart path only. Way too much walking. With everyone having to walk to their ball, it made it a 5 1/2 hour round.
front nine has great views
course was in great condition. Be sure to check yardages closely before pulling your club. Also be sure to check if hole is dogleg to put yourself on the correct side of fairway.
superb course and setting
well maintained, nice people, excellent practice facilities too.
Keep it in play
Great views, great condition both fairways and greens. Multiple tee choices. Play up if you don't hit it straight because you'll spend too much time looking for lost balls. Course knowledge is a must. Your third round will be a lot more fun than your first round.
Impeccably maintained course
The course was beautifully maintained. Lovely views, great condition. Wish we could play it daily.
Loved it!
Ventana in the summer
Great course with awesome views. Challenge from the tips.
Beautiful layout.
Played both the Mountain and the Canyon courses for the first time. I think the Mountain played a little easier but that might be due to playing with two guys that had played it several times before. Course knowledge is key which I didn't have on Canyon the second day. The courses were in great shape, the greens held approach shots well and putted true. The rough was thick and hard to hit out of. A golf cart is a must...very hilly and large distances between some holes. Highly recommend this great test of golf.
Ventana Canyon - canyon course
Played this course for the first time, but it won't be the last. Beautiful course. Wish it were walkable, but there's miles between greens and tees....not to mention a half mile from the practice area to the first tee. Nonetheless, great electric carts make this a scenic and great golf experience.
Great course but definitely resort priced amenities!
Great course conditions, rate of play, and staff was excellent. Only drawback was the price of food...a small sandwich, chips and drink for $15 before gratuity. Seemed a bit much. Otherwise, perfect all around, and would definitely return.
Nice olf Course
Despite playing poorly, I enjoyed the experience here.
Very well kept conditions with many challenging but fair golf holes. The only issue is the slowness of the greens. I realize that summer heat requires them to keep them a bit longer for their health, but this combined with the midday watering of the greens made them real SLOW.
Excellent summer value for a nice golf course.
A tip for first timers - you can't find the clubhouse with a guide dog as there are no signs anywhere.
The clubhouse is behind the Flying V Restaurant.
Enjoy !
