About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. Perfect Greens
The gentleman from New Jersey that joined us thought that the greens were artificial turf! That could be the greatest unintended compliment I've ever heard! Hats off to the grounds crew!
great views
The course was beautiful. Very long and you need to pay attention to the cart path signs.I cannot wait to return
Fantastic day at Ventana Canyon
My brother and I played and we had a bleast.
Challenging course, beatiful scenery, and the best part- got him by 3 strokes since he beat me on the Caynon cousres the day before!
5 hour round
The title says it all. $100 for a 5 hour round of golf. No effort by the club to move thugs along, no ranger.
Great conditions
Course is located in a picturios area. Best conditioned we played in Tucsan for the week. Strictly a target course.
Great Course
I played the Mountain Course, which includes the elevated 3rd hole, one of the most photographed holes in the western US. Very intimidating 100 yards. There are forced carries on most holes, but with multiple tee boxes, everyone should find a set they are comfortable playing. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The course does not have any yardage guides, so either a good GPS which includes hazards locations or playing with someone who has been on the course before is a great advantage. The typical landing areas for drives are fairly wide, it is not a tight target course like some desert courses; however a big slice or pull hook will still find the desert.
Pristine condition-breathtaking views
Beautiful course-pristine condition. Large greens with significant elevation changes. Plenty of opportunity to three putt. I look forward to playing it again.
MTN Course
Great course. Immaculate shape. Very scenic. Lots of forced carries. Should play it if you are serious about your golf.
Best All Around Experience on Tucson Courses
I've played most of the semi-private courses in the Tucson area now and I rate this one the best. The staff was professional and friendly, the course is in excellent condition, each hole is different from the last, and several very scenic views make for an overall great experience. Even the practice facilities are better than most.
Love Ventana Canyon - Mountain course
Well worth the time and drive to play these courses.
Ventana Canyon course
Excellent target golf course.
Finding our way from one hole to the next was a challenge but we were lucky to be paired with a frequent player of the course.
Ventana Mountain Course
Ventana CC is an upscale golfing facility with friendly staff and excellent course conditions. The course offers tee boxes accommodating players of all ability. I played from the gold tees and found some of the approach shots challenging,(Handicap 5, shot 75). Greens roll true, multiple birdie opportunities, beautiful holes with scenic mountain backdrops. I would highly recommend playing if you are in the Tucson area.
Challenging yet conquerable
Both Courses play well! I'm still a novice with a 16 Handicap. We played the Gold Tees on both courses about 6300 Yards. I can say challenging, but I was still able to shot in the mid 90's. Worth the Play!
One of the best in the Tucson area!
Interesting well maintained course. What you see is what you get...
Good Fazio Design
My friends and I played the Mountain and Canyon courses. Both were in excellent condition. We really like the fact that we never felt pushed or had to wait a lot. Overall, I'd give the Mountain course a 4.5 rating, and the Canyon a 3.75. The Mountain flowed better, was less spread out, and was more interesting. The food at the Lodge was good, but avoid the shack at the range. Limited selection and much like an average muni.
Great Value
Course was in good shape and staff was attentive to your needs.
Annoying maintenance
Mowers were on course all day both days, unheard of with a course if this caliber. Very annoying!!!
great experence
very good all around staff course food and total experence
Good course ok value
Good course with nice views. Views aren't as good as mt. Course.
Great Conditon but!!
Played this course for the first time and while very impressed with overall condition compared to Arizona National, Starr Pass, Dove Mountain I must admit I found the layout somewhat boring. If you want a true desert course experience this is not it.
Ordered and ate a tuna salad sandwich as well halfway through my round which ended up giving me food poisoning for three days so obviously issues with food preparation and quality that detract from this course as well.
Apart from the food poisoning problem, I am glad I played this course but will not go back as there is too many true desert courses out there at much better value.
