About The Boulders Resort & Spa Scottsdale
Located in Carefree just north of Scottsdale is the Boulders Resort, a Curio Collection hotel by Hilton. This 1,200-acre resort and community features striking, millions-year-old boulder formations and two, 18-hole golf courses that encircle them. The resort is a village compound with spacious casitas with private balconies, as well as a handful of villas and homes for rent. The golf club features two courses, the North and South, as well as a driving range and golf academy. Boulders is well known for its Golden Door Spa with 33,000 square feet and 24 treatment rooms, plus a wide variety of fitness classes and programming. There are five dining concepts, highlighted by the Spotted Donkey Cantina, well known locally for its Mexican fare. Horrible
I have played this course multiple times and it has been great in the past. This time it was absolutely horrible bunkers were like hitting off of concrete every green on every hole was in terrible condition and not to mention the staff was rude from start to finish. Wish I could write a better review because the views are great! I will never be playing here again wish I could get my money back!
Obsoletely horrible
I’ve been playing golf at the boulders for over eight years. Conditions very have been going downhill the last few years. Yesterdays golf was the worst ever. In fact I haven’t played a course in that bad of condition out here in Scottsdale ever. There was grass growing in the bunkers there was absolutely burnt out greens on a number of greens. There is all kinds of crab grass growing around the green fringes. Stay away from the boulders.

Boulders North
Even though they are getting ready to over seed the course it was very good condition. Like most courses the bunkers needed work & golfers still don't think they leave ball marks. Always enjoy the challenge & sights at the Boulders. Staff was very friendly.

Disappointing conditions all around.
Poor conditions from the tee boxes to the greens. I know it’s a tough world, but this should be an embarrassment to the owners. Large bare spots on every green. Bunkers are hard pan. Grass to high on the tee boxes makes the par 3’s play like you are hitting from the rough.

WAY OVERPRICED FOR THE CONDITION
MOST OF THE GREENS WERE IN VERY POOR SHAPE. WOMEN'S TEES ARE AN AFTER THOUGHT. TRAPS WERE IN POOR CONDITION, AND EVEN THE FAIRWAYS NEEDED WORK. MY ROUND WAS FAR MORE EXPENSIVE THAN GRAYHAWK, FOR MUCH WORSE CONDITIONS. GETTING THE CART WAS CHAOTIC AND THE CADDIE TAKING THE CART AT THE END WAS SIMPLY RUDE.

Wild life
Course was fun. Some blind shots especially for a first time playing this course. Little upgrades are being done so couldn’t use putting green and very wet greens in the morning. A few sand traps had only mud in them. The wildlife was great! Coyotes, snakes, hawks, found a deer hoof on fairway and a dead bobcat by a green. If the greens were consistent speed I would give a 5 star..

Shabby conditions
The traps were hard and had little sand. They looked like they were about to redo them (I would hope). The greens were encircled with crabgrass. The fairways were spotty.
The driving range was closed while they overseed South course. The problem was we weren’t told by GolfNow and the website for the boulders did not list that either. Unacceptable!

Over rated
Course was in terrible shape. Dead patches in fairways and near greens, bad traps, grab grass surrounding greens. Clearly a course living off its past reputation.

Great Course
Great layout, fun course, not any severe undulation and elevation changes. Scenic, greens need a liitle help in spots after season-long play, good where not dried out & injured, good fairways & teeboxes.

North Course
When I booked my tee time every review was favorable. The day before my scheduled golf day, the reviews warned about the greens and the surrounding fringes. Lots of small brown areas of dead grass were dotted throughout the greens. The fringes were full of weeds and just plain old dirt.
The staff was great and that’s what bumped their overall rating up. I will return and hopefully the course conditions will have improved.

Course condition
I was really surprised of the poor condition. There was way too many weeds around the greens to be acceptable. The greens were in poor shape.
The Grass was too long in the Tee boxes.
Once you placed your tee. You could hardly see your ball.
The practice putting green was in horrible shape.
I found the condition shocking.
